Meet Octavia Schaeffer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Octavia Schaeffer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi octavia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My whole life ive grown up with parents and family members owning businesses, and wanted to try and make something of myself. Ive always been a musician, and loved to organize and lead people. So, when no one booked me to play a pride show, I took it upon myself to host our first show. I saw the perfect opportunity to start my own production company and throw my own shows! Its all about the music for me, I never wanted to start a business for money. I wanted to start a business in something I believed in, something that I can use to make a difference and help others strive in the field. I love working with other collectives and people to make these amazing shows happen. And I couldnt be more thankful to have the team I have on Eris. Shout out to Nate, Maya, and Isaiah for helping Eris be what it is today. And we are just getting started!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I make experimental Bass music. A sub genre of dubstep. Im also a graphic designer, and design all of our posters. Along with other artists logos, and banners. I stand apart due to my image, and brand recognition. Im all about love and PLUR, and I truly mean it. I want everyone to succeed genuinely and will often put others before myself to help them succeed. By staying humble, but knowing my worth, it has created a beautiful balance in my life of accepting when things dont go exactly how I want, while still excelling and climbing to what my goals are. My brand is about love, mental health, and reaching goals.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Dallas is full of amazing things to do!
But first id take my friends to eat at Hakata Raman, or sushi kushi. Both amazing places. For night life, my home is Green Elephant or wherever Sounds From Below, or Eris is hosting a show.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be here without my dad introducing me to music at such a young age. I wouldn’t be DJing without my best friend isaiah(wubzii) pushing me to try my hardest. Eris wouldn’t be what its coming to be without my partners, and close friends maya(nex6) and nate(sativamane) those 2 have helped with Eris more than I could say. From bookings, to ideas, to keeping my busy self orangized and on task.
