We had the good fortune of connecting with Nizar Boubaker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nizar, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am Nizar, from Tunisia known as Nizar13. Since I was young, I’ve possessed a diverse set of skills and hobbies that set me apart from my peers and entourage. Spending time alone, I immersed myself in these interests, working to develop them. The lack of immediate feedback made me more comfortable trying anything that crossed my mind.

While I never delved deeply into music theory or pursued formal study, I’ve always had a profound sensitivity to it. Simultaneously, I didn’t want to limit myself to just music or design; I have a passion for integrating all my skills to create the product, whether it’s an album, an instrumental, or anything else. While working with artists from around the world and managing my friends.

This versatility enables me to wear multiple hats when it comes to the creative process. As my works started to be released and were purchased by supporters who weren’t my friends, especially in a third-world country, it pushed me to further pursue what I do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an independent artist. I create experimental/abstract hip-hop and design products related to music. What sets me apart from others is that I highly value the freedom in what I do and how I do it, pushing this genre in new directions that challenge the norms to express my ideas through music and design.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy, of course, and it’s been a lifelong journey. But I’ve had to learn how to deal with obstacles and turn them to my advantage while sticking to the plan. For example, I wanted my previous album, ‘Just More,’ on vinyl records. Knowing that we don’t have pressing plants in Tunisia and facing a lack of resources, I had to craft it by hand. If it weren’t for these obstacles, this project wouldn’t have been successful. So, I embrace both the highs and the lows and remain ever-ready to face obstacles, and we my brand “trutt” which is a design studio and a record label, I aim to inspire others to pursue their independence and creative ambitions fearlessly.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
my father is hardworking person and a good man even though he don’t fully condone what i do because he comes from a deferent times with deferent perspective, but this person is the only one i look up to he inspires me without knowing it. Also the people i lost in life, a lot of inspiration comes from that.

there is this book called Freedom from the Known by Jiddu Krishnamurti, it really showed me a way of thinking that matches mine but from another old and wise person who’s Jiddu Krishnamurti, other books as well Art of war, The prince… my real friends and my supporters.
