We had the good fortune of connecting with Nick Allan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nick, how does your business help the community?
The idea of collecting clothing and shoes can be extremely daunting. My page has a strong community focus because of its emphasis on fun and easy to interpret education. I try to include information and insight on what I’m purchasing so that anyone can understand it. Shoes and clothes are the same, I try to discuss quality and construction of items as well as their history in a brief and fun manor to make sure any audience can enjoy and gain something. With that said my direct messages are open for anyone who has questions about clothes or for a quick conversation. I will always do my best to answer or help!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m still very young at 21. I’m a cook at a country club which I knew nothing about a few years ago and I’m in University taking a commerce degree which I have completed 3 years of. I also work part time at the local sneaker store in my city which is something I love. I work hard at what I do and push through things even when I absolutely don’t feel like doing them, even if that means breaking them into 2 hour portions. I have always had pride in the fact that I’ve stayed away from liquor, drugs, and nicotine products as I believe it promotes a healthy lifestyle. Learning to cook has been extremely beneficial to me even though it’s not my calling so shout-out Chef Shaun for that one too. I want people to know that they should remember not to always want to monetize their hobbies and simply do something they love because they love it. Invest in others that also love it. I also want people to know that my Instagram page is a passion project and an outlet for me to spread information and build culture about something I love. Keep your friends involved if they love something too, it makes it better. My friend Carter does all my filming and pictures under the name @kolourful_productions on Instagram and by doing this together it’s brought us closer even though we grew up together and most of all has given us something to make time for.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Because I like to cook I’d say let’s have friends over and make something of it that way. Obviously I’m biased about what I find fun. I build my cars in my free time and thrift in my free time so I suppose the garage where I stay and goodwills would be the itinerary everyday. Having a meal that you cooked with your friends goes a long way socially and can be more enjoyable as an experience than eating out somewhere.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In highschool there was a teacher (we’ll protect his first name and call him Mr. Maguire). But before that I was slowly introduced to clothing through Instagram in the form of @profitfinds which really proved that you could get some crazy stuff at Ross as well as local thrift stores. My grandma and I used to go in the summer when I would see her, and it came full circle when I took an interest in it during my time at highschool again. Mr. Maguire was a Physical Education substitute teacher who would occasionally teach at my school and he was always extremely kind to every kid that was interested in shoes to the extent of giving away knowledge and sometimes shoes for free. Through my time at highschool he would stay afterwards to tell me more about shoes and the culture, as in what makes a sneaker important. With this information I built my sneaker collection hunting down the absolute best deals I could because of what was proved to me by @profitfinds and that is to be consistent and resourceful. Check everywhere. This made me gravitate towards clothing because without sneakers your outfit is wack and without a good outfit why wear cool sneakers!? Mr. Maguire and I are still friends and see each other regularly. The dynamic has changed a bit with me now finding shoes for him occasionally to give back. I did teach myself a lot about clothing but he gave me loads of foundational knowledge to get started with shoes which again spilled over into clothing.
