We had the good fortune of connecting with Nick Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nick, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

Our business was mostly started on a whim, more of something to generate extra spending money. We started out by making little $20 dollar keychains and after we started those, the request for more items began to pour in. We never really intended for me to be pursuing this as a full time gig but here we are 3 years in full time. Altogether, it has been 7 years in the leathercraft journey. My wife is a helping hand in the creation of all of our products as well.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

At Alexander Leather Goods, we create custom tooled leather goods. Items like belts, wallets, purses, and our most popular line, customized wedding products. We try and set ourselves apart from others by staying true to ours designs and trying to create products and designs that you wont find anywhere else. This business started full time for 2 weeks before the covid pandemic, trying to stay afloat during that time was a hard transition for us as a family and business owners. But we made it, by staying persistent in creating even when it didn’t seem like anyone was interested. One thing I’ve noticed over the years is some people aren’t just interested in the products, they’re interested in The person behind the products as well. So we make it a point to be seen in the business as a people others can relate to. I am really passionate about our wedding line mostly because my wife and i make these products together. We get to make products for other newlyweds. Sometimes those designs Tell a story for the couple and I think that’s pretty cool to see your work apart of! I like to be able to create generation keepsakes that can potentially be passed down for future use.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

We are from a small town by the name of. Chickasha, Oklahoma. We have several different options of small business eating places that my family likes to frequent. For great burgers, i would recommend Brandi’s Bar & Grill or J&W grill, My personal favorite that I could eat everyday is a small cafe type place called Alexander Eats. Anything I have had there has been phenomenal and FRESH! If Chinese is your vibe, you’ll LOVE China Moon, its Fresh & made to order! To catch up with a friend, have a drink at the The Speak or Canadian River Brewing Co.!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

Going into this journey, I went in completely blind. Just knowing that i wanted to create certain items that would peak peoples interest. I learned most of what I know today from mostly reading books, or browsing the internet to find how to’s on how to do things. Don Gonzales Saddlery youtube videos were a big help when first starting out. My wife is a huge support system in my business. As she is already a full time Registered Nurse and still takes the time to help me on orders.
