We had the good fortune of connecting with Niccolas Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Niccolas, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor behind the success of my brand is that it’s understood. I don’t base the success of my brand on the support, but on the understanding, because you can’t support what you don’t understand. My brand “#DLROWEHT” stands for “The World is Backwards “ , people often ask what made me come up with the name or why do I think the world is backwards? I myself believe it’s self explanatory. My brand Is called #Dlroweht stands for the world is backwards, based on the world we live in today ,the name started off as an alias I made for myself it was originally just “Dlroweht” and what I would do is when I post something on Facebook or Twitter such as a quote or something inspirational i would end it with “-Dlroweht” basically being my trademark . What i started off as just an alias I wanted to be so much more, people would start asking “Hey, what is that name you put behind all of your quotes and sayings?” I just replied with it’s the world spelled backwards, then they’d ask “Well what does it mean? ” and that’s the fun part lol, having to break down the meaning of the name I went from telling people “It’s a name based on how I look at the world from many different angles and views “ to just basically saying “Look at the world we live in…..” and people instantly get the concept. After a while i started to feel the name needed more to it than what it had “Dlroweht “ made it seem too plain and normal I mean given it’s two words, turned backwards combined in to one still seemed to ordinary and boring to me and I felt like that made us strangers rather than the same person if that makes sense lol.I started brainstorming and thinking what does it need to make it stand out more, give more meaning and thought ? So what came to mind is that everything that I think about or write about are known as “trending topics “ and what do you normally see in the beginning of a trending topic? A “#” , so that’s when I changed it to “#DLROWEHT”. The hashtag brought so much meaning and attention to it to where if people search it on social media or even google it they may find some of my quotes or inspirational insight, so it feels good that my message can be spread throughout the world without me even having to voice it myself or explain it. The topics I talk about are basically things that effect humanity itself today rather it’s in politics, injustice, racism religion, what’s done on social media or even in your own family , I believe “#DLROWEHT “ can touch on any subject and any category. When I thought of the idea to start actually marketing the name I felt like I could really get my message across and also get a bigger following , which it did and now my brand has been a lot of dope local Dallas artists have worn my brand in their performances, music videos, radio interviews and other events that they are apart of and it’s an honor for my brand to be in the mix of their greatness. My brand is not just for African-Americans, my brand is not just for people who are “Woke”. My brand is for everyone rather you’re Black, White, Spanish , Straight, Gay, Bisexual doesn’t matter my brand is for the world. Promoting equality and unity .I believe that i don’t really have to much explain the story behind the brand of you’ve lived in the world we lived in for the past several years and paid attention to what goes on in it., so I feel the most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand , is that it’s understood and give the proper attention for what it is. Not just a brand , but a movement and the start of somewhat of a revolution!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I must say my art is based on a lot of different . I mean I write music and poetry, I’m a screenwriter for music videos and short films, I’ve hosted 6 artists showcases. I’ve recently gotten into acting starring in a couple Dallas short films and music videos. I’ve also recently started filming a talk show I like to call “Destination Greatness “. A show interviewing individuals with their own brands or business. I will also be interviewing artists, rappers, singers, dancers actors, models etc. I’m not only using my talents for my own success, but to help build up others around me and help them with their platform. I believe if I see success in you then i will invest in you.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are ALOT of places I’d suggest a friend of mine to visit if they’re in town. I’d suggest Deep Ellum in bear downtown Dallas where they can go for all great kinds of food, live music and even great places to take pictures and just enjoy the scene. Another place i may suggest would be Traders Village. I would suggest Traders Village because it had the same qualities as your normal State Fair that comes to town once a year, but instead it’s in town every weekend, it has great food, rides , music and you could even purchase things for your home, your vehicle, even clothing, you could say it’s a fair mixed with an outlet mall if that makes sense.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have many people special people i can shout out who have been a big part of motivating me to keep going and never give up on anything I’m currently doing with my brand. I could put out a full list and describe what they do and mean to me and my brand and it still wouldn’t do justice. This shoutout goes to everyone who had ever supported and showed love to my brand and everyone who hasn’t yet. This goes out to everyone who doesn’t support my brand for reasons I’m not aware of and they may not be either. I want to shout out to everyone building a brand right now not because they want to be the next Michael Jordan, Jay- Z , Russel Simmons or even Rihanna, but they are looking to be the first them and make a difference with their brand and movement that they start, because in this day and age you’re either a moment or a movement. Shout out to all the movements!
