We had the good fortune of connecting with Nathaniel Ried and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nathaniel, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
While I was in college, I injured my knee playing basketball and saw first hand how one-on-one, hands-on physical therapy can change a person’s life. I was given my life back, able to avoid surgery, and I’m able to play basketball to this day.

After graduating physical therapy school, I looked for a place that would allow me to help my patients get to the root cause of their problem and create a tailor-made solution with the patient’s goals in mind. I wanted to empower and give my patients the tools needed to avoid having to take dangerous pain meds and get unnecessary shots or surgery. Many places that I worked at early in my career didn’t provide the healing environment that I believe my patients deserve. I knew that I wanted to treat my patients just like I would treat my own family (and not just like a number). This is when Ried Physical Therapy was born in 2017.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

How did you get to where you are today business-wise?
By always putting the patients and people first and by not focusing on what other people or competitor’s are doing.

Was it easy?
Of course not. Anything worth having will require commitment and hard work on your part. Many times, social media and the world around will attempt to tell you a different story, so be careful.

How did you overcome the challenges?
The best two ways to be overcome life and business challenges is to invest in your personal growth, and you must find a mentor that has done what you want to accomplish and aligns with your core values. Ried Physical Therapy has become a mentorship site for healthcare providers who are wanting to open their own clinic or enhance their clinical and personal growth and skills. If interested, please contact Dr. Ried at (817) 380-8077 to discuss possible mentorship or educational opportunities.

Lesson’s I have learned along the way?
You must:
1. Put people first!
2. Strive for excellence in all that you do.
3. Let your light shine to the world so everyone can see it.

What sets us apart?

A Doctor of Physical Therapy does a thorough, research-based exam to help patient get to the root cause of their problem. In our clinic, it is very important to listen to our patient’s goals, history, and needs when creating a plan of care. We are a one-on-one, manual therapy clinic that uses a variety of treatment options for pain relief and wellness when creating a tailor-made solution for each of our patients. We equip and empowers our patients with the tools they need to keep their progress long after they have left our clinic. This passion for helping our patients has led us being Voted as the Best Physical Therapy Clinic in 2023 by Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I would like others to know that with passion and love for what you do, you will never work a day in your life, and you will be able to change the world around you.

What are we most proud of?

We are most proud of the opening of our non-profit clinic, Hands and Feet Christian Ministry, in January of 2023. Currently, opioid addiction is destroying the lives of individuals and families at an alarming rate. In fact, 80% of drug related deaths are opioid related death! Hands and Feet Christian Ministry looks to decrease opioid addiction in our community by alleviating obstacles to physical therapy access amongst the financially insecure, lower income, marginalized, and veteran groups so our communities is stronger, resilient, and healthy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love DFW and my Tarrant County community. There are so many wonderful things you can see and do in the metroplex, but here are some of my favorite: food at Doc B’s, drinks at Joe T Garcia’s, going to Perot Museum, watching a Dallas Cowboy/Dallas Maverick/Texas Range game, go shopping and eating in the Stockyards, or spending some time riding bikes or kayaking the Trinity River.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
After moving to North Dallas, I found myself working at a clinic with a Certified Head, Neck, and Face Pain specialist. Not only did she know where my headaches and pain were coming from, but on a regular basis, she had seen patients with many of the same symptoms I had. She treated me and trained me how to treat patients with the same symptoms. My patients and I were getting better and starting to see the light. This doctor was God-sent, if you ask me.
