We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monique, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Giving up is never the answer! Changing your direction or strategy will get you closer to your goals. The road to success is uncomfortable and for me I had to come out of my comfort zone in order to achieve success. There are some things that will fail, but only if you give up. Some of the best name brands, athletes or engineers didn’t become that way over night. They became that way from being motivated, and working hard. Even more importantly believing in themselves. Yes, it is hard work and dedication but anything you do will only become harder to achieve once you stop. Of course you have to take risks, but must be in control of your emotions. I always tell people who are trying to accomplish anything in life to make sure that they do it without fear. Fear is a killer of many things even life itself. So how to know whether to keep going or to give up? It all depends on how you see your life, and if you are willing to take certains risks to get there. Find the best strategies that work for you. Be patient and find what it is your good at. Keep going and never give up!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
There were many times I wanted to give up and didn’t want to take anymore risks. I was tired of losing. I can’t stress enough the road to success is uncomfortable. I had to become uncomfortable to start seeing some type of gains from all the hard work Im putting in. Everything’s is a Learning process and I had to make mistakes in the beginning to become better at what I do. Understanding how money works was one of the most valuable things that I learned being an entrepreneur. Meeting new people and networking in the field of interest is also of importance. When I had a little bit of leg room to hire someone I hired myself. The money stays within the company. I lost a lot of money before I started making profits. I never gave up. Soon I plan on becoming a full time investor. Keeping my businesses allows me to do that and now the money will grow even more. I plan to have other employees other than myself. Patience, Patience, Patience! I once started off with the mindset to make money over night, but it doesn’t work that way. Yes it may happen over night but after months/years of hard work and consistency. Having assets that appreciate in value is another important thing I learned. What I want the world to know about my brand/story is that I bring 100% quality craftsmanship to the table. Over the years I have became much better at those crafts and now ready to teach others who might need that extra motivation to achieve their goals.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m more of a nature girl I don’t take too much to crowds I love being at home. If I were to take my best friend out for a great time and she only had a week we would go to the reunion tower for sure in Dallas. Downtown Dallas has many great places to hang out. Zazas hotel in Uptown Dallas, also has tons of amazing spots as well.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
