We had the good fortune of connecting with Monet Benitez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monet, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Thinking about risk is imagine myself motionless for a second, is a battle within yourserlf…one part tells you “go for it” , while the other one plants the seed of the doubt.

Every time I have taken any risk, I did it with fear… but that never stopped me; because you wont find success while staying in your comfort zone.

Looking back, I thank myself for the braveness in taking the chance to start: ” Be Genuine Creations”. It has given me purpose and the opportunity to help my family financially.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work stand out for its texture, colors, its boldness yet elegance. I create my jewelry having in mind the uniqueness of every person, without compromising my own vision of style; and that is very important if you want people notice your work…stay true to yourself… don’t be a copy… be the inspiration…Be Genuine!

Sometimes when you see many people selling the same product, it can be discouraging… you start comparing yourself to others, and I have learned that the only person you’ve to compare to, is yourself… I am my competition… Is my responsability to become a better maker than I was yesterday… How I’ll do that? perfecting my technique, educating myself on how make my business grow. Putting attention on what others do, slow your way to the top.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Every time a family member come to visit us we take them to Texas Roadhouse, the steak is good but the bread will make you fall for the place. I also enjoy a good brisket, I’ ll suggest Rudy’s or if you’ll like a more cozy place, go to Woodshed Smokehouse. The best hamburger I’ve ever tried are from Rodeo Goat. If your here in spring, can’t miss the Texas Tulips farm in Pilot Point. Don’t forget to visit Texas Stockyards!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I couldn’t run my business without the support of my husband. He’s always there with me… going to every event I attend to, taking care of our son so I can focused on the production and design of new styles.

My mom, also play a big part in my success… I’ll like to call her the manager of Be Genuine Creations in Puerto Rico; she’s helps me sell my products back home, while I run the business here in Texas.
