We had the good fortune of connecting with mon g. bizzarri and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi mon g., how do you think about risk?
Risk plays a big role in any entrepreneur`s life… Both my parents are artists so I knew what I was getting into since the beginning. I’ve seen my parents deal with that “Risk” and I’ve learned so much from them. I’m not gonna lie, its difficult and frustrating at times. you have to be very careful financially and always have a plan, but I would never change my lifestyle! I rather learn how to live with that “risk” and be free and do what I love every single day rather than getting a job I don’t enjoy just so I can get rid of that “risk”…

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
There’ s a lot of trying and failing at the beginning and sometimes it’s difficult to overlook the difficulties but I think the minute you see one of your pieces completed everything changes. It gives you the extra push you needed to continue! Something I learned recently is never to do something just for others to like it! people often ask me why I only use those mild colours and to be honest those are the colours I can get from the trees, leafs, branches etc. that I use for dying. I don’t want to use any chemicals or dangerous substances just to get a beautiful shiny red. It’s just not me. I like the what’s organic and pure. One of the things that I like the most about my work is the absence of waste. I have a system to reuse all my dye water so that I don’t have to throw it away. Every single little thread is reused and I try to be as conscious about what I buy as I can. and I feel those threads make the most beautiful details on the pieces!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
well… I live in Mexico City now so my tour would be here and it makes this question so difficult because Mexico City is full of amazing places and things to visit! I would definitely take her to a market! it’s one of my favourite places to go! You really get a full taste of Mexico and Mexicans there. We would also go to Chapultepec which is a huge park inside the city! It has a lake, a castle and so many pretty spots to sit and relax! Design and art are growing so much in the city so we would definitely visit some galleries (there are so may I can’t choose right now) and some museums like MAP, Museo Nacional de Arte or Franz Mayer. I Love libraries in the city! There’s this one specifically that has books all over the walls and you can go there and read, study or just have a coffee. these are just some of the things I would do. One of my favourite places is El Carcamo, painted by Diego Rivera. Its an old water distribution system for the city and every time the water passes, an Organ plays. simply stunning.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shotout to my parents and my brother…. they have been nothing but supportive. they believe in me and encourage me every single day. they haven’t doubted me even on the days that I doubt myself! I would never be where I am without them! they deserve so much credit in my story…
