Meet Molly Rasmussen | Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Molly Rasmussen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Molly, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Regular goal setting, as a team, as a company, and as an individual. We do a staff retreat once a year to set goals for personal successes and also for our company looking ahead to the future. Benchmarking achievements with actionable goals has lead to quick growth, and helps us make decisions surrounding our goals as a company to always move the team forward.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What really sets us a part from other planners is our diverse background within the industry. A lot of wedding and event planners fall into this business by accident, or by way of planning their own events. Jenna and I both were very intentional about wanting to be in the events field from day one. Our background ranges across 12 years of experience in catering, venue sales, staffing, linen selection and floral design – and all of that is from working for other companies, not the experience we’ve gained as Pop Parties. Having outside expertise beyond one role in events is imperative to success for large scale celebrations. I like to tell people that I got to where I am today, and our company, by learning from a lot of other professionals on how NOT do to things. We treat our clients and vendors with respect. We don’t expect for things to be handed to us, but we ask nicely for value adds for our clients. We have tightened up business processes to make planning easy and accessible. We work with others who get the job done well and we can rely on to do their jobs vs babysit. Although the wedding/event planner is the commander in chief for event day, it doesn’t mean that we have to be bossy know-it-alls. Effective communication of expectations is key to success and building a solid reputation in the field, which I’m very proud to say we have done. We want the world to know that what drives us is our passion for exceptional events each time. Our team was truly meant to do this for a living and it’s what keeps us going, even when things get tough (HELLO 2020!) Although we use our multiple years of experience to “steer the ship” for clients to have seamless soirees, we really want to. make sure they are heard throughout the process and the designs reflect who they are as a couple.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When friends come to visit, we spend time on the lake, shopping and eating out at our favorite spots. A quick day in Dallas would look like this: Brunch at Rise on Lovers Lane Some shopping in the area, (Brit Rose Boutique and Mary Kates and Co) We’d pop into Rattlesnake Bar at The Ritz for a drink and finish with dinner at Bistro 31.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Jenna Griffin. She is one of our Senior Event Planners and has been with me since day one. I actually interviewed her for another job, before leaving my catering career. She didn’t end up getting that role, but she started working for me on the side as I opened my business. Without her leadership and attention to detail, I wouldn’t be able to function or continue to push us on to the next level. Oh, and we have a great time together too!
