We had the good fortune of connecting with Misty Cozart-Evans, PT and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Misty, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The heart behind Arise Physical Therapy and Wellness PLLC is to provide senior citizens with an option to continue with private pay wellness visits with a PT once skilled services are completed. This would allow patients to continue to have the accountability, guidance, and assistance needed to continue safely with an on going fitness program. Many people struggle to continue with their home exercise program for a variety of reasons: lack of caregiver support, lack of motivation, lack of confidence, safety concerns. Unfortunately many people decline and possibly end up back in hospital due to inability to continue with their exercises. Giving patients the option to have someone coming in their home to keep them active, monitoring them, and reporting any possible concerns to their family or doctor immediately would ideally decrease risk of potential hospitalization and prevent further decline. My goal with Arise Physical Therapy and Wellness PLLC is to KEEP people healthy and strong and allow them to maintain their independence as long as possible.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Over the past few years I have had a strong desire to provide care beyond the traditional health care model. I want to help people focus on being well and staying well, not wait for a crisis to occur before implementing a fitness program. Exercise is one of the best things we can do for ourselves to achieve longevity and maintain good health. So let’s get moving NOW. Think about the activities you want to be able to do in your 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond, and let’s start working on those things right now. This begins with seeing yourself as strong and active, and independent. When you see yourself as such, it is much easier to take the steps needed to achieve your goals. My goal with Arise Physical Therapy and Wellness PLLC is to help motivate people and show them that just because you are a certain age does not mean you should stop striving to be strong, fit, and independent.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Celina TX is very much a growing city, but still has preserved that small town feel. We love it here! I love to show people the downtown square. It’s the heart of Celina. You cant go wrong with Toasted Walnut or Tender Smokehouse! And don’t forget to grab a Hairy Gorilla snowball!

Your trip to Celina would not be complete without experiencing a Celina High School Football Game on a Friday night with the back drop of a beautiful Texas sunset!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my husband, Clint, and our two boys, Blaise and Raiden. They have always been my motivation to work hard and to keep going. When I began my journey in PT school back in 2005, our oldest son was barely 2 years old. Failure was not an option. I knew I had to succeed to help provide for our family. It was not easy, getting through school, studying, and trying my best to be a good mom and wife in the process. But by the grace of God we made it! And here we are! That little 2 year old is now 19 and beginning his own college education, and our youngest son is 13 years old and will be entering high school this Fall.

I would also like to thank our church family, Movement Church in Celina TX. It is here that I have learned so much about the good plans God has for each of us, the grace He gives us to accomplish those plans, and the love he pours into our hearts that we can share with others.
