We had the good fortune of connecting with Missy Bowie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Missy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to be able to create a product that served a purpose, that helped other people in some way. After being in the professional beauty industry for years, I came across men and women who, for various reasons were bored. Bored with their relationship, bored with their love life, and bored with being bored. So I created Explor to change that.
Explor gives you quarterly, direct to your door intimate items to spice up your sex life. Instead of trying to figure out what to buy, researching for hours…or even having to go into a store, Explor does the work for you. Being a working single mom myself, I knew how hard it was to find the time to research which products are good quality and what I may want or need, much less find the time to go to an intimate store.
As an intimate wellness company we pride ourselves on not just offering the best quality products on the market but also providing helpful relationship tips on our social platforms.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The road to becoming a business owner was not an easy one. I was never handed any money to start my career, from the day I graduated high school it was up to me to put myself through school and training to further my career. I started my career at a lower level position and throughout the years took it upon myself to focus and train for other positions in the same industry to move up. It took lots of long hours, working 6 or even 7 days a week at times and sacrificing time away from my family to get to this point in my career. The entire time I had one goal in mind, which was to be able to have a career that essentially allowed me to work from home to be able to do the little things like pick my kids up from school. Although, the road was challenging I would always advise anyone who feels like giving up on their career to remember why they started and to keep going. Keep the goal in mind and finish!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
OHHH this would be fun! Well I would say we would start a morning or two with a little hike out at katy trail or river legacy park then have some mimosas and brunch at some of my favorite spots like : Beverlys, Yellow Rosa or Snooze A.M. Eatery. I would probably want to hit the pool at the Drover hotel for some poolsdie relaxation and a little shopping in the stockyards.
The Dallas world aquarium is definitely on the list of places to check out as well.
For dinner we could stop off at nick and sams on a friday night for some good music and of course the dessert. If we are feeling a little margaritas on the patio I would definitely take them to muchahos.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to send special thanks to my best friend David Rodriguez, he has supported me through taking this company from a dream to an actual business. No matter the issue I stumbled across as a new business owner he was there to help offer advice or a shot of tequila!
