We had the good fortune of connecting with Miranda and Stephanie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Miranda and Stephanie, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
We were both born and raised in the great state of Texas, and although we had different upbringings, both of our paths led us to become educators. The impact of being teachers has influenced our desire to always continue to grow, learn and be creative! Those desires ultimately led us to where we are today in our photography business. As life-long learners, we continuously study new techniques to improve and enhance our work. We love when our clients trust and allow us to be inventive and creative. Most importantly, we knew that building relationships with our students was the biggest factor of success as educators and we try to bring that connection into each of our sessions. It has been so fun to reconnect and capture some of our former students as seniors, brides, and with their families!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We truly believe that the fun and family-like atmosphere we create in our sessions is what sets us apart. This allows us to capture the genuine smiles and interactions in our images that keeps our clients coming back and sharing our name with their friends. We strive to create art that you are proud to display in your home and share with your families.

One lesson we’ve learned along the way is that community over competition is so important. We love lifting up and encouraging our fellow photographers, whether that be commenting on their social media or sending out their name as a referral.

We think our story is kind of fun! Two teachers decide to be photographers!! We know that we’ve been blessed to have been teachers first and that during that time we were given so many tools to now use as photographers.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Hands down we both recommend the Stockyards! What else says FTW like cowboys, cattle and cactus?! Maybe start with some breakfast and sweet breads at Esperanza’s, take a walk to the Drover Hotel and shop and finish the night with dinner and margaritas at Joe T’s!

Grapevine is such a fun area we also enjoy! You could start the day with yummy croissants and coffee at Main Street Bistro and Bakery and then spend some time shopping down Main Street. A stroll in the Grapevine Botanical Gardens would be perfect before dinner! The new Harvest Hall is really neat with yummy foods and drinks, but a definite must is margaritas and dinner at Esparza’s!

For more of an adventurous outing, be sure to visit Fort Worth Axe Factory to try your hand at some axe throwing. Aftwards, pop over to Martin House Brewery for some great local brews on tap and finish with a few rounds at Top Golf.

Did your friends bring their kids? If so, we’ve got lots of fun and favorite spots to entertain the little people. The Fort Worth Zoo is always a great outing. Our kids love to visit their splash pad during the summer to cool off between giraffe feedings and stingray encounters. Afterwards, be sure to hop on the Forest Park Miniature Railroad for a quick and fun cruise around Trinity Park.  Finally, swing by Melt on W. Magnolia to cool down with some of their delicious ice cream.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh! This was so easy for us to answer – our husbands!! They have been our biggest encouragers during the entire process of leaving our educational career and starting our photography business. Many times our husbands are left at home to cover all the parenting duties – soccer and gymnastics practice, dinner, baths, and bedtime – while we are snuggling a newborn or dancing with a bride and groom! And let’s also mention that they pack our cars full of props, furniture and any other requests! We definitely could not pursue this dream without their love and support.
