Meet Miki Plesa Hosler | Owner Carnival Catering

We had the good fortune of connecting with Miki Plesa Hosler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miki, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
The most important thing I did as a parent was to instill kindness and a hard work ethic in my children. My children were brought up in a middle class home. We were not wealthy, and my children were required to work for my company in return for their car payments, insurance, etc. My children know the value of a hard work ethic, and now that they are mom’s too, I hope they instill the same values.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I graduated Loyola University in Chicago, IL with an accounting degree. I was a financial analyst for Boeing, when 911 happened. My plant was closed and I was laid off. On a road trip with my best friend, we decided to start a catering business. She was positive it would work. I was a critic. I am SO happy she was right, and we made this company work. We would still be together if her husband did not get very sick, and I bought her out so she could care for him in his final years.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend coming to Dallas I would
Go to the Kennedy Memorial
Go to the Rodeo at the Stockyards in Ft Worth
Take them to see Billy Bobs, and see how we do in in Texas
Shop at Galleria or Northpark
Take them to a fine steakhouse for an amazing dinner

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My children deserve the biggest shout out to making my business the success it is. They are my heart and soul. The breath in my body. I worked so hard for THEM. To educate them, to give them a good life. My husband is another person that supported me, never quit on me, and always was more than willing to help grow my business.
