We had the good fortune of connecting with Mikaya Gent and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mikaya, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Principles, I value are (1)Truth, (2) Trust, (3) Love, (4) Accountability, (5) Gratitude, (6) Forgiveness, (7) Effort, (8) Self-Confidence/Authentic, (9) Re-Alignment/Re-Adjustment, (10) Freedom, (11) Reflection and (12) Affirmations.
I grew up not standing in my truth that I felt ungrounded and uncomfortable when people asked me who I was. I had to learn how to be honest and be comfortable with what I said. I always looked out for my words because I didn’t want my “friends or family” to be hurt. Now, I am honest but mindful on my intentions, the way I speak, and how it my affect the next person, while still being honest in my own right.
Trust plays a major part in my growth. Trusting in the process, the unknown and known, trusting in the seen and unseen. Without having trust and being open to, it becomes hard to trust anything. That’s why I am not afraid to take risk, because I know if something doesn’t turn out it was a lesson to be learned but not a loss. Whatever is for me is for me and no one can stop that.
Love is something that is always unconditional. Because I have always been a lover, I have always been able to see the beauty, joy, and life in all things around me. Love should be something to be proud of because no one can take that away from you. Be open to love.
Accountability is like responsibility. Kaba Kamene has stated that “responsibility is 2 words. It is a response to your ability”, and with that acknowledgement, you have to be accountable to your ability. Being accountable shows that you can take ownership of what you do, how you do it, when you do it, why you do it, and who you do it too. It forms the transition that no one can tell you of what you did and did not do.
Without forgiveness, you will always remain hurt by something, you, someone, or something has done. When you forgive, you open the door to seeking understanding and assurance of what has happened.
Effort provides the the authority that you aren’t just doing something to do, but you’re wholeheartedly putting your all into something. When you half-ass on a task or project, it will reflect your own worth and value. When you apply your effort, your confidence outshines the mistakes you make.
Self-Confidence. allows you to be yourself and allows your worth to outshine your flaws. Confidence is like courage and taking risk. It exceeds the way you initially felt about yourself to the point where you start to enjoy yourself for who you are. Being confident allows you to be authentic. If you aren’t authentic, you are not real.
Dorothy off the Wiz told scarecrow, “All you need is a little self-confidence and coordination.” Sometimes all you need is to re-align or re-adjust yourself to the path that you seek or the value you possess inside. Once you believe in yourself, no one can push you away from your path or the road that lies ahead.
Everyone has freedom. Just because there are laws put in place, you have the free will to abide by those. With freedom you have the ability to leave, to stay, to grow, to be content, to love to hate. You have those freedoms. Your mind is free. No one should ever have to make you believe something without you yourself looking for or discovering the information yourself. That is freedom.
Reflection adds understanding. It acknowledges awareness/acceptance to what you’ve been through, where you been, and where you’re going.
Affirmations allows you to manifest who you are, who you want to be, and who you see yourself as. Saying “I AM” co-creates with Nature and it aligns to the alchemy within you.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Kaya Kreatez launched May 2022 in Dallas, Texas. Kaya Kreatez mission is to provide a safe space where people can heal, grow, love, and learn to love themselves so much that it empowers others to do the same. Kaya Kreatez vision is to see others flolurish and heal; to help people identify who they are; to create a platform that actively sees clients who are seeking change within themselves; and produce workshops all over and reach the broken population.
I got to where I am becaus I never gave up on myself and what I believe in. I am 100% persistent and confident through all the doubts and fears, even the procrastination; I chose to evolve myself and my company. It was not an easy process, it took a lot of courage and preparation. My grandmother always told me “Proper preparation prevents poor performance.” What sets Kaya Kreatez aparts from the rest is that I channel others broken place. I find their barriers that hinders them from growth and provide resources and tools that can push them to excel from where they are now.
A huge lesson I had to learn is stop listening to what others tell you about your business. Stop seeking validation from others. Yes, take constructive criticism, but you do not have to receive everything someone tells you. Most of the time, they are looking at your originality like something is wrong, not knowing you have your own standards and creativity. Push yourself beyond your own limits, and find the creativity that’s within you!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The best place spot I like to go to in town is BIG GUYS. They have several locations in the Dallas area, and IT’S SMACK!!! I’ve introduced some people to their locations. If my bestfriend would come down here for a weekend, I would first take her to get some breakfast, either at Dick’s Cafe in Cedar Hill or Denny’s off Cockrell Hill. After, we would head to the Round 1 in Arlington Mall for some time arcade and games. For lunch we have some choices (1) Sushi Dojo, (2) Velvet Taco, or (3) Voodoo Vegan. Great food options and very exotic. Next, we would head to the Black Magic Museum to take some photos. After, head to the Galleria and shop around some stores. For dinner we would go Genghis Grill, or Mckenzies Soul Food Kitchen!
