We had the good fortune of connecting with Michaela Longoria and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michaela, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
Sometimes, my clients have children at home, and if it’s summer and they want me to bring them over to keep their kids company. These are for my long-term cleaning clients who honestly feel like family at this point. When they work from home, or can’t afford childcare, sometimes that means I’m in the company of pets and kids who make my job even more enjoyable! Being able to bring my kids along if needed is a huge plus and exposes them to new people, places, and demographics. They’re able to see that there’s not just one way to live or one way to have a family. They also all value hard work and labor-intensive roles those show people in my role who are the backbone of society. Like servers, cooks, custodians, food pickers, taxi drivers, and gas station clerks… These are roles that are vital to maintaining society and I want to make sure that these six children have a positive impact from seeing their mother work in this industry.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
After starting cleaning homes 2-3 days a week on the side, it was originally to escape the 9-5 business life I had found myself in for so long. I have degrees so that’s where that culture and mindset came from but cleaning and helping parents and people who suffer from burnout, depression, and anxiety was truly what set my heart on fire.

It’s my heart song and since my love language is acts of service, it’s my honor to serve others in any way I can while I’m here on this planet. Monday to Friday, Since January 2023, I work doing 2-3 homes a day. They can be general cleaning, organizing appointments, or a declutter service, and all are special, valid, important, and vastly different! Each client of mine is valuable and while some may be one-timers or regulars, all are such an asset to my business and need my psychycology background.
I approach this not for profit, but to make ends meet and even out while helping my community.

I’m officially a 32 year old married mom of six who runs her own small business and has three employees who clean with me! I’m sure things will grow as time goes on but for now, I’m loving the size things are now as we currently service Collin, Dallas, and Denton counties in North Texas. I’m a 2nd generation Black Mexican Mixed WOC so helping those in my demographic is very vital to me. I hire an all-mother an all-women team and find that important to keep solid as well, even as this company grows. I also donate items to charities that help our community and women/children who are escaping DV situations. These are all causes that are important to me so there will not be a moment where these aspects will falter.

I’m hoping more people will see what I do and how much I love it and learn to step up to help a neighbor if they’re suffering from mental health problems that lead to overflowing into their living spaces. coming at this with a psychology background I truly understand that my niche is needed due to people having help with food, therapy, bills, and even mental health meds but what’s the point of doing all that if your home feels like hell? Cleaning is a learned trait. It’s a skill. Why do we assume those of lower or tight incomes just automatically have this skill set? That’s a silly assumption and I’m here to break that shame space and show grace where it’s needing to be given to the most deserving of people. Living with mess and clutter is normal and for many is a trauma or comfort response. It would be easy to just take people’s money and come back again and again to clean the same messes but instead, I like to challenge the narrative that says, everyone must have one idea of “clean”. I’m here to help people and the goal is to actually not come to many of my organizational or declutter appointments ever again after two or three sessions because my clients are now fully independent and making changes on their own. Seeing them keep their plans in place longterm is what I’m here for and what I’ll forever love to do!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Morning hikes, bike rides, or walks are nice around Watter’s Creek in the early morning here in Allen, Texas. Lunch is perfect outside with our kids at Ford Pool for a pretty cheap price and then followed up by the best food ever at Ye Old Butcher Shop in Plano, Texas. Worth the drive and line, if there is one!
Afternoons are best at Celebration Park where you can feed ducks, play tennis, go for a run, or hang out on the splash pad!
Evenings are fun when the sun goes down to take our pups down to Mutts Cantina for a doggie playdate for only a low day pass and there’s a fun bar nearby called Bar Louie where we can always catch a game and special drink/appetizers.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to thank ACO in Allen, Texas for accepting all the donations my clients have me haul over.
