We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Quincy-Sanders and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
Born and raised in Los Angeles.

1. Grown by up with a Homophobic Mother, while also having an older brother that was gay as well was something. I didn’t “come out” until around 24. But living that has shown me how other people can feel unsafe, and unprotected in simply being who they are.

2. Not a very hands on loving family, outside of massaging my aunt and us clipping each others nails and my mom rubbing my back when I was going to sleep. But it helped me learn, what connection was when it was present. To appreciate those that do give Hugs and do enjoy physical touch. As a massage therapist, I sometimes have sad thoughts thinking how some people don’t have anyone to hold, hug or even talk to.
Many of the older clients I’ve had over the years would talk during their sessions. Made me feel as though they had no one else to talk to. So I’m happy to be in a place to give people a chance to communicate and connect altogether.

3. Many Many Many people we’ve met along the way as well as things we’ve done were there to prepare for what it is we’re here to do. Creativity wise or even our divine mission. It’s the subtle hints and clues we may notice that push us towards the right direction.

4. I get and understand people on a deeper level because I know what’s it’s like not to be heard, felt, seen or noticed.
So I make it known to make sure everyone’s feels heard, and noticed. Engaging them in their own world of imaginations

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a massage therapist, over the years, I’ve learned more and more about the human body and how we don’t do nearly enough on a weekly basis to take care of it.

From things we eat and our bodies reacting negatively, but us just thinking, oh it’s what I eat, it’s not that bad.

To holding emotions and stress, which causes the muscles and fascia to tense up. Causing energy to become stagnant.

Simply taking a deep breath allows our nervous system to realign. But do we?

Even some dogs take a sigh and their owner will questions why they’re saying as if they worked a 9-5. That’s the owners queue to also take a deep sigh of relief. But do they??

Back to hugging and connection. Massage is one of the greatest ways for the body to receive a way to decompress. Although, now, most times people just want deep tissue and for the body to be broken in; even when they’re the ones breaking it down from their day to day lives.

The Spine is the Gold Mine on how to connect deeper to one self, and it’s the least thing we tend to.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I honestly haven’t been out in a while.

So I’d say Nature, maybe Legacy Hall to try Vegan Vibrations or the Iconic Vegan Cafe.

I recently went to ACTIVATE Games and that was AMAZING. Physical and mentally challenging amusement center. I definitely want to go back there.

Maybe a sound bath if one is occurring while they’re visiting.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Cartoons and Movies.
May seem wild but it’s true.

For me over the years, I’ve noticed I have a strong connection with my Inner Child.

I see a lot of resonating things in anime’s and cartoons I watch.

Something a character is going through or something in the storyline connects to something I’m going through or discovering in real life,

Like Brave for instance, it helped me further the connection and bond with my mom. It’s taken quite some time, but watching that movie helped me.
