We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor by far is the relationships built across the board. From the talent on screen to the creatives behind the scenes, everyone needs to feel a sense of belonging because without that there is no incentive to give it your all. Additionally, building genuine relationships with the people helping the vision become a reality gives each individual a personal relationship with the given project which inspires them to inject more of themselves creatively into the process. That, in turn, results in the project morphing into something so unique.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am never truly set on what my main creative venture is but a majority of the time I am producing some sort of film project for my production company, MicHill Entertainment (MHE). Under the umbrella of MHE I produce short films, features, TV shows and other digital art pieces. My proudest accomplishment under this company is SmallTown Outsiders, an independently produced 5 episode TV series now streaming on Roku and Tubi! Achieving that was no easy feat due to the sheer amount of self-learning I had to do. Additionally, attempting to integrate into the film industry can be a bit cutthroat with a large number of producers merely wanting to take advantage of your talent without properly compensating you. Despite those caveats, I wouldn’t trade my journey here for the world. This journey has taught me so many lessons with one of the stand-outs being that we are better together than the sum of our individual parts. I want my production company to be a light in the midst of the darkness and a safe place for artists of all types.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well we would definitely have to give Breakfast Brothers in Arlington a try and also swing by Black Tap for something a little pricey but really good! Downtown Fort Worth is such a vibe at night! The theatre community is also always growing and thriving so definitely visit Jubilee Theatre, Circe Theatre and Farr Best Theatre in Mansfield TX for something a little more homey! I’m a simple guy so for casual hanging I would grab a few snacks from a local Family Dollar Tree and set up a picnic with card games at a local park like Town Park or Nature Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Tracy and Bobby Hill are the shining victors in my come-up story. There love, support and unwavering dedication in helping me to become as successful as possible is something that I cherish so deeply. I’d also like to shout out my brother, Gabriel Hill, and friend, Spencer Yang, for being my right and left hand men for the past 7 years. They saw the vision when no-one else did and continuously poured into me and the company (MicHill Entertainment).
