We had the good fortune of connecting with Melanie MacFarlane and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melanie, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Integrity is a value that matters the most to me in all aspects of life, but especially when it comes to what do as a provider. The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles when it comes my patients and my work is something that I take very seriously and take a lot of pride in. This has allowed me to build relationships with hundreds of clients that trust me and my work, and that is invaluable to me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Becoming a licensed aesthetician in the middle of a world pandemic was certainly not the easiest endeavor. In times of such uncertainty, it really challenged my want and my why behind what I had set out to do. After acquiring my aesthetician license and dipping my toes into the world of aesthetics, I quickly realized I didn’t want to stop there. I wanted to do it all. So I went on to attain my professional laser technician license as well as training and certification in aesthetic injections.
I strive everyday to be the professional, educated, and passionate provider that my clients deserve by helping them put their best face forward, while also being the friendly reminder beauty is skin deep.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Being a mental health advocate is something that is extremely important to me, which puts me in a very unique position in the aesthetics industry. After many of my own personal struggles, as well as the struggles of those that I love and have lost along the way, I’ve chosen to use platform to bridge the gap between aesthetics and mental health awareness in hopes to shine a new light and perspective on such contrasting topics.
That being said, I would like to dedicate this shoutout in loving memory of my cousin, Brian Bonlie who we lost to suicide in 2021. Whether you have struggled with suicide yourself or have lost a loved one, know you are not alone. Whether you are struggling or in need of emotional support, 988 is the Suicide & Crisis hotline.
