We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt Pladsri and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matt, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
The late Chadwick Boseman said “Purpose is the essential element of you.”

Any project I take on, I think about the potential impact it can have for others and why it is important to me. I believe purpose is the key factor to giving ourselves a direction in life. It is the reason why we create our own daily routine, who we align ourselves with, how we decide which path to take and how we respond to obstacles. When understanding my purpose, it helps me stay present with every step of my journey in order to bring me awareness to the lessons along the way.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I enjoy being involved with various projects from different areas and discovering the new ways I can be effective and enhance each brand/company/organization. Every project has its own challenges, but I believe the skillsets and experience gained from one area will be useful in other parts of my career and provide guidance in my personal growth.

My company, Reel Talent, is an entertainment industry business that focuses on creating talent reels for new and professional artists. I founded this company with two of my closest friends, Kamen Casey and Srini Raghunathan. Because it can be difficult to have reel footage when first starting out, our goal is to give artists the opportunity to pick scenes and monologues that they believe best represents their honest ability. Then we capture and edit their piece to create the type of footage they desire to share with the world. While showcasing their full range of talent, we also want to confidently tell their stories and use their voice to express themselves.

Recently, I started a Thai music project called Pladsri & Co. I have been a Thai musician since I was 11 years old and have performed in multiple cities in Texas and Thailand. Notable places I performed in Texas are the Buddhist Center of Dallas, the Majestic Theatre, University of Texas-Austin, Asian Festival of Dallas, Austin College in Sherman. The vision for Pladsri & Co is to spread awareness of Thai culture through music while also connecting musicians around the world. Current projects include short films, commercials, cover videos, live performances and online educational content.

I have also partnered with a few startups by providing them with strategies and resources to assist them grow their businesses. AerngYoga is a Thai yoga brand led by Aerng Phongprayoon, whose mission is to guide people in living a healthy lifestyle physically, mentally and spiritually. ThaiWithPla was created during the pandemic because Thai schools shut down all over the US. Led by Pla Sangthong, we designed a program where students could sign up to learn and practice Thai through online private or small group lessons. I am also a brand ambassador for a watch company called Seventhwatches, founded by Izu Asekhauno, where they donate profits to help support organizations which take care of the less fortunate, aid in stopping human trafficking, etc.

I am always searching for new projects to be involved with, and I communicate with potential partners closely to see where I bring value, if I’m able to fully represent their mission and what ways we can positively impact our communities. This life has so much to offer that I just continue to learn new things and always grow through my journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some places I go and enjoy taking people to are Legacy West, Top Golf, Toyota Music Factory, K-Town in Carrollton, The Star, Dallas Museum of Art, Perot Museum, Bishop Arts District.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have great circle of family, friends, mentors and mentees that support me along my journey. To highlight a few people, I want to start with my biggest shoutout to my mom. She is my light that makes sure I am always on the right track no matter what. My co-founders of Reel Talent, Kamen and Srini. Our brotherhood is beyond business as we continue to push each other to make a positive impact on the world. Seventhwatch founder, Izu, has been the greatest big brother figure in business and my personal life. I am bless with great people in my life.
