We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matt, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I didn’t start my own business, this was actually a non pre-planned passing of a legacy. My dad started this company in 1991, and I hated working for the family business. I found a career in purchasing and was miserably content in my job, and one day in a casual conversation with my dad, he asked me, “When are you going to take this company over for me?”…. I had never given it real thought before, but after consulting with several people, my wife gave me the clearest answer that made my decision really simple. She said, “Take a look at your current boss, and take a look at your dad. Who do you want to grow up to be like?” And with that statement, I quit my job, and started working full time at the family business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We print on just about EVERYTHING we can fit inside the printer. We are proud to be a custom job shop, to really tackle the things that other people just can’t figure out. We love to partner with people and to get excited about helping them succeed in the story they are telling the world. From small businesses who are just starting out to someone celebrating their 90th birthday, we enjoy seeing people see their vision come to life.

When we first started, we were a commercial screen printing shop, and in the past few years, we have converted everything over to digital printing, this was a massive financial undertaking and not without more than a little risk, but there have been no regrets, because if we had chosen to not upgrade equipment to keep with the times, we would not be operating now. We have learned that we need to keep evolving our processes to match with our customer’s needs, but to never lose the strive for perfection that we have prided ourselves on for years.

Dynamic is a place where we invest in people who want to be a better version of themselves, even if they don’t believe it when they walk in the door. And that has made the difference in what we produce.

When you work with us, you are getting more than you bargained for. This is a place where the people creating your signage care about your vision, and want to help you tell that story to the world with pride. Where we are teaching people to take pride in what they do, and to think about not just themselves but those who they are producing, we tell everyone that our job is to make the next person work less, and we want that to carry over to everyone who will experience our work.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d love to show you several places in the area. Burleson is a family town, with lots of events in Old Town that have live music, movie nights. I’d recommend going to American Revelry for fine dining that will blow you away, or if you would like something more low key, Fresco’s is an excellent Tex-Mex place. If you wanted to go into Fort Worth and experience the city, I’d say check out the Stockyards and Magnolia St. for all sorts of amazing places to eat and shop, and if you needed a drink, check out Thompson’s Bookstore (it’s a speakeasy!) or Blackland Distillery… or both!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family for sure deserves it. My wife, for hanging in while we figured out how to adjust to going from coverage of a corporate salary to working for a small business, we had to have a lot of adjustments and patience in this new role. She has had my back and has challenged me (and still does) without ever knowing it to be a better man than I was yesterday. She is the person who I rely on to advise me on staying on vision, and who I want to impress the most in the world. Love you, Chey. Thanks for believing in me.

My dad for being my hero in life, and letting me take the reins of what he has built from scratch for over 30 years. He has taught me more about what it means to lead well than anyone else in this world, and he never said a word, it was all through how he lives day to day. Love you, Dad. Thanks for trusting me.
