We had the good fortune of connecting with Marredia Roberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marredia, how has your background shaped the person you are today?

I’m from Carthage, Tx, a small town 159 miles east of Dallas. I grew up in a single parent household, raised amongst a close knit family. Although there isn’t a set receipe for achievement, I was taught to work hard for what you want, the world owes you nothing. Breaking generational curses started in 2011 for my family, with me being a first generation college graduate receiving my Bachelors degree from St.Edwards University. I’m also a first generation business owner, but I don’t plan to be the last! I teach my two girls to be open minded, have drive, be outspoken, & to never give up. I’m appreciative of where I come from, but I know exactly where I’m going. I’m still building my empire and making a way for those that come after me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
AshRoq Financial LLC was established in 2017 by my business partner, Ashley Lacy & I. We have locations in Carthage and Tyler Texas. Tax preparation, bookkeeping, grant proposals, and business consultation are amongst some of the services that we provide. AshRoq Financial was built from the ground up with no handouts. I’ve learned along the way that everything will not always go as planned, but you have to keep going. Take the good with the bad, and flourish! I’m most proud that two African American women could come together and stick together. We are creating generational wealth for our families and it feels awesome!

Confident Curves Showroom opened in September of 2020. Fashion has always been a passion of mine. Confident Curves caters to the plus size fashionable woman. “Confidence doesn’t have a size” is our slogan. I plan to expand confident curves into surrounding cities during the upcoming years. This is a saturated industry, so it keeps me on my toes having to keep up with the latest fashion.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My belated great grandmother, Georgia Roquemore. She was always the glue to my family. If she was present to witness my success , she would be more than proud.
