We had the good fortune of connecting with Marlin Ousley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marlin, what do you attribute your success to?
My willingness to never quit and to do whatever was necessary to succeed.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m currently incarcerated and have been for the past thirty years. Circle Six Publishing was started as a means to give incarcerated men and women a platform to share their stories. To do what I’m doing from where I’m doing it is a challenge within itself. However, I need people to understand that no matter where you are or what you’re going through you can accomplish anything. You have to have the mentality of I can do anything and everything after that will manifest itself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to South Beach, then to Houston’s for a nice meal. Then we’d tour Wynwood which has now become a international tech hub. From there we’d visit the Bal Harbor shops for a little shopping.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Besides God being first and foremost, I’d have to say Crystal Perkins of Crystelle Publications for all of the insight into the publishing industry. She introduced me to some remarkable people whom I probably never would’ve met. And last but not least my fans who read my books and spread the word about them.
