We had the good fortune of connecting with Marisol Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marisol, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think as a business owner or entrepreneur, you need to take risks in order to be successful. That is what I’ve learned these past five years of being a business owner. If you do not get out of your comfort zone, you will not grow at the level you want to be at. There are times the risks you take may not end successful, but you learn from them. I believe I am a risk taker 100%, I’ve had negative opinions about it from my friends and family, but what is the least that could happen if you don’t take the risk?

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started lashing back in 2015 in Allen/McKinney in 2 spas at the same time. I’ve been blessed not struggling in getting clients, however the commute was far driving from Sherman and having a second baby. I then started mobile lashing for a few months, until I then decided in 2017 I wanted to own my own private suite. It was a little struggle the first years as a business owner but thanks to social media I was able to attract clients that way. It has not been easy fast forwarding now to 2022 and three children later throughout my life as an entrepreneur going on leave. I’ve had client losses but now my clientele is stable, because of the hospitality service I provide. Some challenges I’ve learned through the past years is that not all clients will be your ideal clients, one obstacle I learn to overcome is that you have to set boundaries to your clients and respect your time. That is one main reason why I decided to be in the lash industry, to have the freedom and flexibility so I can spend extra time with my family. I would like to share to other women in the Industry or who would like to join the beauty industry, how to flex your desired career with your life schedule. Anything is possible if you pour your heart into it and be consistent.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Sherman is a small big town, but there are some entertaining thing to do. I love coffee and I would not function without it! CJ’s Coffee Cafe is my favorite place for coffee and my favorite drink is the “Chupacabra” Iced Latte. My favorite Thai food is Dragon Thai and Vegetarian Cuisine in Denison, which is a few minutes from Sherman. For entertainment I like to go to Schulman’s Movie Bowl and Grill. They have Axe Throwing, bowling, bar and grill, and a movie theater with leather recliners.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to thank Eric Ross, owner of Travis Street Salons, where my entrepreneurship started five years ago. Till this day I am still located in those suites full of positive energy, and of group of humble hairdressers, barbers and estheticians. You want to surround yourself with these type of people, who give you a smile every day and give you a hand in a heartbeat when you need it! I would also love to thank my family for supporting me in my goals.
