We had the good fortune of connecting with Mario Ranieri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mario, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Making a list & sticking to it. It sounds so simple, but it’s crucial to know what you need to do and stay on the path. Anytime ppl ask me for advice… Figure out what you want to achieve & start the list! Check something off everyday – There will be days you knock out 1 thing or 5 – but in a year, the minimum gets you 365 steps closer to the goal!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always been a creative at heart. I feel everyone has a form of expression. Something we do to express ourselves that anchors us in the midst of this crazy world we’re in.
LIVE LIVE started as a non-profit passion project rooted in the arts to promote those expressions, while supporting Mental Health initiatives. When I lost my job, it quickly went from being a passion project to my livelihood. I realized quickly I needed to get the core business set up before I can go back to the fun creative roots of the brand.
Currently 5% of our sales will be donated to Mental Health initiatives. I won’t give too much away, but I look forward to revisiting the collaboration with the arts in the next year or two. LIVE LIVE is a reminder to live in the moment and be at your best. Raising the question – “What do you live by?”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Dallas has evolved into a little melting pot of neighborhoods. Lower Greenville, Bishop arts, Knox Henderson & Deep Ellum make up some of my favorite areas.
I love HG Supply in Lower Greenville. Not only is the food amazing, the people behind the operation are incredible. A little further north in the Lakewood area you’ll find a cool dive bar called Cosmos that serves up old school movies and some of the best Vietnamese food you have ever had. period.
My favorite neighborhood right now is the Bishop Arts area. As a community it’s like Dallas & New Orleans had a baby. The whole ambiance of this neighborhood is contributed by the community of restaurants & bars supported by live music. Can’t go wrong anywhere on that block. Check out Revelers Hall, Tribal Cafe, Written by the Seasons & Paradiso. Every spot in this are gives off a different vibe. If you need to get some shopping done stop into DLM & Indigo 1745. Two spots where you can find LIVE LIVE, but also a great curation of clothing for men & women!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m a big believer that we are all the sum of our experiences. There’s too many names to list, but I’m grateful for everyone who simply took the time and made an effort to support & teach me things along the way. BUT, I would like to shout out a store called Kens Man Shop in Preston Hallow, right off Preston & Royal. They have a great assortment of product, but more importantly; they are heavily rooted in their community. For the month of May (mental health awareness month), they are raising money for a scholarship fund they created as a tribute. It highlights a stand up individual and raises awareness around mental health!
