We had the good fortune of connecting with Marina Davalos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marina, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always had love for art, makeup, crafting, things that you build on and make completely unique. I took art classes all through middle-high school and even pursued art in college on a theater scale. It’s easy for me. I can see one thing and instantly think of ten other ways to see it or make it!
What should our readers know about your business?
I started and own The Air Aesthetic, a balloon business. I provide balloon gifts, stuffed balloons, garlands, backdrops, and memories! It makes me happy to create things that other people find joy in. Balloons make so many people happy and that’s priceless!
The journey for me has luckily been easy, although like everyone, I have had plenty of set backs. My biggest one was losing my car in the flood Dallas had at the very end of summer 2022.
Goal wise I’m still behind from it but definitely have had some blessings from it! It gave me the beautiful big suv I so desperately needed to help my business grow! I couldn’t have asked for a better end result of that flood.
I’d like everyone to know it’s so easy to be happy doing things you love. I started this with no clue what direction it would take me. I didn’t know if I liked balloon gifts more or garlands more, I think now I like them equally. It’s fun, it’s such a great feeling putting the final touch on a setup and stepping back and seeing it altogether. I love it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
From experience, my family and friends are from out of town and whenever they visit I take them to The Cowboys Stadium tour for sure. I don’t care if you like or dislike football, the stadium is absolutely beautiful! We always usually go to creamistry and Son of a Butcher on lower Greenville. Can’t go wrong there!!
Bishop Arts stroll is a must!
We definitely visit the malls, and Kyle’s Warren Park.
I also like to take my friends out to Frisco/The Colony to the Grandscape area. There’s so much to do and see! Walking around Scheels is even an experience!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s multiple people who are owed recognition and credit. Every single other balloon artist I’m friends with, balloon store owners (Lilys Decorations 08), and vendors, they’re such a healthy form of support and are my biggest cheerleaders other than my own family.
The support of the Dallas balloon community is unmatched. I’ve gained an absolute best friend that I couldn’t be more thankful for, just by starting balloons.
Couldn’t ask for more!
