We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Sandoval and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maria, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Coffee has always been such a huge part of my life. In the Latin Culture Coffee is introduced to us at a young age, I remember taking my first sip at 10 years old with a conchita. We use coffee as a way to communicate or shall I say chismear around the table. So when the time came to find a business venture, my first thought was coffee. Also, as a Latina, I wanted to open up a whole new palette of flavors and put a Latino twist into the American Coffee Market. That is how Con Amor Coffee Co. came to life. A mobile coffee bar that offers; Lattes, hot or cold, Cold Brew and Fresh Brewed Coffee, which I hope soon will turn into a Brick and Mortar in the Heart of Arlington, TX.

What should our readers know about your business?
Con Amor Coffee Co. is a Mobile Coffee Cart that offers Latino Inspired Coffee drinks. As a Latina, I am proud of my roots and the various different foods/flavors that we bring to life. Some of my favorite treats/drinks growing up was the Horchata, Fresas Con Crema, Abuelita Hot Chocolate, Flan so to be able to bring those flavors into your cup of coffee is something I absolutely love to do. We are still a new company and have a long way to go until we can get to our final destination so I am still overcoming those challenges as I am getting ready to take on a project such a building a brick and mortar. I’ve learned to take it day by day and to continue to move forward. One of the biggest thing I want for you to take from Con Amor Coffee Co. is that the possibilities are endless and that we can get there if we continue to work hard for it. Si se puede and I am proof that if a Latina who grew up in L.A. with no resources, no wealth, no idea of how to even create a business can make it as far as I have, so can you!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had my best friends visiting Fort Worth for the weekend I would definitely take them to the Stockyards in Fort Worth. We would go bar hopping and check out the Rodeo, grab some BBQ or steaks. A great place to go for BBQ would be Hard Eight in Burleson. We would go grab some donuts at Doughboy Donuts in Burleson and grab the Dough Boy Sandwich. Visit Downtown Burleson and grab some margaritas from The Margarita Factory, classic margarita is my favorite. Of course she will finally be able to try Con Amor Coffee Co. so I’ll make her an Iced Chica Fresa Latte or a Dirty Horchata for the Road.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my husband, Gerardo Marroquin and close friend Daniela (Dee) Diaz. My husband is the reason my business has been able to come to life. Any ideas that I have, he brings them to life for me. He has put in serious work and time to help create our Mobile Coffee Cart; He always helps set-up at events and takes care of the family as I continue to help the business grow. Grateful for him and his continuous support. Thanks my love. Dee has become such a huge part of idea process behind Con Amor Coffee Co. I consider her my mentor as she herself is a small business owner. She is constantly helping me come up with ideas, provides tips on how to do the accounting part of the business, helps in planning content and is always showing tremendous support by making amazing reels to show off her Con Amor Coffee. You are appreciated Dee!
