Meet Marcia Eligwe | Mechanical Engineer & Publisher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcia Eligwe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marcia, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“A coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous.”
It’s my favorite because it reminds me that every thing and everyone has a greater purpose than what we can even begin to imagine. Everything that happens is part of a grander design, and this quote inspires me to empower the people around me with knowledge of their value so we can all play our part in it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Technical Creative and my niche is people! I have over a decade of experience as a mechanical engineer, generating solutions in various applications and at some point during this time, I realized that my skills were applicable in every situation.
I mean, these things don’t just shut off when you get off work.
Your entire life and what you do should reflect who you are.
I started Em&M Solutions once I became more intentional about applying myself in other areas, like being able to analyze a room as a stand up comedian, to calculate what would get laughs. And even in social issues.
It is a challenge having such a broad niche, and knowing that people’s needs and therefore solutions will be different but it gets easier when you realize that every person is worth the effort,
Very recently, my publishing division released a journal with our favorite quote and are getting ready to publish our first Children’s Book!
My brand is about recognizing your history in order to be your best self and I am smiling as I say that because I just realized that’s the theme of our Children’s book… hey, no coincidences, right?
It is an African Children’s book series about a little Nigerian American girl who is able to release her own magic once she discovers her heritage.
Look out for our new Children’s Book, “Magic Wrappa”, in March 2023.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are too many things to check out in the city but I would recommend getting a place in Denton for its convenience and central proximity to DFW.
Take a stroll around the Denton Square, making sure to stop by all the unique shops… including More Fun Comics and Games, If you’re not into comics, you will be. Take a break with Beth Marie and a few scoops of ice cream. before settling down for dinner at LSA Burger.. the most Texas you can get, in Denton.
You’ll need a nap after this so thankfully there’s plenty of lawn space for laying out, right in the middle of the square.
When you venture out of the city, head south towards Dallas and visit the BlackLit Bookstore before heading to take an improv class and. then… stay for an evening show at the Dallas Comedy Club.
After the show, call ahead and order the Korean Fried rice taco from velvet taco… and a slice(s) of red velvet cake with caramel drizzle.
I typically like to refine and repeat this process a few more times in order to fully absorb all the scenery and experiences in between, but mainly to try out all menu items from previously visited establishments.
On Saturday, relax at movie tavern with breakfast and a 12 o’clock movie.
Doesn’t really matter what’s showing but depending on how busy your week is, this may be the most expensive nap you ever take… enjoy it.
Relax and give yourself 2 hours to navigate the DFW airport, before your flight back home!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my family who always show up. And especially to my Nigerian parents who have given everything they are, for my siblings and I to be everything we are.
