We had the good fortune of connecting with Mandi Redmon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mandi, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
One of the most important lessons that my business has taught me is to create a welcoming culture for staff and families. Creating a positive, engaging and understanding environment helps ensure that our team feels the necessary support to implement the best therapy we are capable of implementing. When staff feel they are supported, our clients make great strides. The pace of change and related challenges our field faces depend on our staff being present, positive, and supportive, therefore the environment the staff works in must foster this culture.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I work with children on the autism spectrum, we implement behavioral therapy, social skills groups as well as work on feeding difficulties. What sets me apart from others is the connection I have with my staff and clients. A true connection helps create limitless possibilities for growth. Having a business is not always easy. I have had many challenges along the way that make you question “Am I doing the right thing”? I have learned not to give up, push back and push hard for the things you believe in. Our field alone has overcome so many barriers and our company has faced a lot of these barriers along the way. One thing that I would want the world to know about me is that I will always face the difficult situations head on, and not give in or take the easy route, especially when it comes to clients and our team.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think I would take my friend to shop at one of the local outlet malls or to Grandscape. Then we would go to a smaller more authentic food place in the area and eat some Mexican, Indian, or Thai food. I love a lake weekend so this might be an option as well hang out at the lake for a relaxing weekend.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family they always support all of my endeavors and encourage me to continue to always set new goals. Also, Angel Pollard for introducing me to the field. Angel has been a supportive business partner and without her I might not have found my true passion which is this field. Our team without our team Epic Strides none of this would be possible.
