We had the good fortune of connecting with MADHUPRIYA SRINIVASAN and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MADHUPRIYA, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
My core values as an individual and as a business are the main factors behind my success – Commitment, Integrity, honesty, service, gratitude and positivity! I believe in myself and I focus on possibilities rather than limitations. I take ownership for my actions and work from inside out. I feel every experience in life teaches you something. Service to the community and sharing the message of empowerment and mindfulness with the world, is my purpose. And I am doing it one painting at a time!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art celebrates Abundance, empowerment and the resilience of the human spirit.. Life and Nature are my muse in this journey of self discovery. Working in layers and using symbolisms, I explore the myriad emotions we go through as we evolve. I work mainly with Watercolors and Acrylics. They flow and blend effortlessly in my intuitive play to create soft calming effects. I balance it with intricate details and geometric shapes. I believe in exploring and trying new things in both life and art, things that make your heart sing!
I was always a creative person but it took me many years to shift from the hobby artist mindset and approach things professionally. It was definitely a learning curve. Most of my challenges were my own limiting beliefs. I believed I was not good with technology, social media, photography, bookkeeping etc etc and not to forget the imposter syndrome which used to creep up every now and then.
Once I decided to go with an open mind and learn all this, I figured I actually enjoy them.
As I stopped creating art based on ‘what people might like’ or ‘what might sell’ the shift happened. I rediscovered myself and started creating from inside out, focusing on what makes me feel happy and enjoying the creative process. That adds a different energy to the artwork and makes it unique.
My art resonates the belief that the power to rise, to heal, to be happy, to make our dreams come true….. is all within us. We should believe in ourselves and value our value……each one of us is worth it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend to the Dallas museum of arts, Nasher sculpture centre and the other art museums in the Dallas- Fortworth area. So much inspiration!

I also love being in nature, especially waterbodies energize me! I would take my friend to the White rock lake, Arbor hills, cedar creek reservoir, Turner falls, Heard Museum, Oak cliff Nature preserve and maybe go camping! We are big animal lovers and love going to the Dallas and Fortworth zoos too..
Dallas Arboretum is another favorite!

We also like to hang out at Legacy West, some great places to eat and I love the energy there!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am grateful to so many people who have helped me on this journey in different ways! To name a few:
1. Robin Maria Pedrero : Local artist and coach, Robin was my first mentor and she helped me shift from the hobby artist mentality, which was one of my big limiting beliefs. She introduced me to the different aspects of running an Art Business and reminded me to take pride in myself as an artist!

2. Nicholas Wilton: Artist Nicholas Wilton’s approach to art making and the essence of being an artist led me to lot of self discoveries. I started seeing the way my art and my life are intertwined and noticed how my realizations and awareness were translating into my art. His guidance helped me show up as myself in my art, to create art that was vulnerable and universal!

3. The Power of your subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy has been a paradigm shifting book for me. It taught me to work from possibilities instead of focusing on the resistance and limitations.

4. The local arts community has also been a very supportive and important part of my journey. I am a member of two amazing organizations – Visual Arts Guild of Frisco and Visual Arts League of Allen. Both organizations have provided so many opportunities to learn, to showcase art and to grow. I am also thankful to the gallery 8680 for all that they do to help the artists and the community.
And most importantly the love and support from my family has helped me explore new avenues and be where I am in my journey today!
