We had the good fortune of connecting with Mac Mays and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mac, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor for my and the success of my brand is being creative. We are all for setting trends and not really following them as much. We like to set ourselves apart from the rest. As there is a broad demand for my business, it is mandatory that we stand out in the best ways possible.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a union commercial carpenter by trade. I’ve been in the construction trade for 8 years. Also I am an American Bully breeder by passion. I have worked long and hard in both areas to obtain my status in both worlds. I am a proud union member. I am a very proud American bully owner as well. I am very proud of my family coming together to help me with my business when working. I got to where I am today by hard work and dedication, determination, and holding myself and those around me accountable. My journey has not been an easy one, but Ive made it happen by keeping one foot in front of the other. Many lessons have been learned during my journey that molded me as a man and business owner. My brand that I created four years ago is everything to me. Who would have thought that the young me as a kid would grow up to be a breeder. I remember growing up raising dogs with my dad back in the day. Time flies…I would want the world to know that we are family oriented kennel that breed for ourselves and the people. We stand behind every idea, thought and production that we put out. Teamwork makes the dream work and that’s what NWK is about and built on.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are many exciting things to do in the Pacific Northwest. I would take them to experience amazing sites and activities. Depending on the season, there is always fun activities. Let’s say it’s summertime. I would book short boat tour of the puget sound. So much great scenery in the PNW to see and enjoy. I would then take on a chocolate tour in the city of Seattle. While on the tour, we would visit the Pike Place Market. I would take them to the Car Museum in Tacoma WA. When it comes to food, I am a big foodie! I love to try new places to eat. I would take them to Ruth Chris in Seattle, and The Melting Pot downtown Tacoma. For drinks and entertainment, I would take them the Joeys at south center mall. I would also book a VIP at Nate Jackson’s Super Funny Comedy Club located in Tacoma WA. There are too many place and interesting things to do in the PNW year round.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many people that stand out when it comes to recognition in my becoming a breeder of American bullies. Two people I must mention is my beautiful wife, and great friend of mine, Cavell(CEO of REptable Exotics) out of Tacoma WA.
