We had the good fortune of connecting with Luxury Strand and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luxury, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from the south side of Chicago . My childhood background is filled with primarily grind , faith and ambition. My parents are creatives even while working Corporate American jobs occasionally; they are and has always been firm believers on following your dream while keeping God first.

Because of that upbringing I was blessed with the opportunity to find out what I love to do. I found my passion for working in the Industry.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started off assisting a hair salon right after beauty school to study and practice all there is to know about the fundamentals of hair. When my time was over with that job I started my freelance career. I reached out to local film school students and participated on short films. While doing that I was asked to join a fashion film and I fell in love ! Fashion spoke to a different level of creativity and art. Although I love both equally ; fashion print challenges me more.

While working in these different industries i also fell into the art of working with music artist and influencers.

working in the different fields I grew an attachment to the models, actors and YouTubers that I worked on. Being behind that camera is not a easy job and I have the opportunity to meet them right before their big moment and change there entire mood and gift them positive energy.

I recently started a hair extension company that offer quick install extensions and rental extension services for the industry professionals who are looking to protect their hair.

As a hairstylist for creatives I have been told many horrific hair stories about hair styling on set. So I decided to create a company located on

; to allow industry professionals the opportunity to rent or purchase 10 minute install extensions such as U-Part Wigs , Clip in extensions, wrap ponytails and more.

being apart of both film , print and entertainment industry.

The hardest challenges I’ve faced with are me being hard on myself. I think as creatives sometimes people will try to place you in a box.and when your faced with the choice of staying original you have to turn down people and remind yourself of your worth . Or maybe the paid opportunities doing what you love isn’t consistent enough.

Remember to never give up. Anything that is meant for you will come to you when you least expect it and need it most .

Everything you have now is all you need to move forward. I often get caught in this in moments of hard times but I remember that I have to stay positive no matter what. Life doesn’t happen to you it happens for you.

I want the world to know that I’m here for change. Im here to make a difference in my art and industry.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents , my brother, friends & clients play a HUGE impact on my growth and ambition.

My mom always told me that you are who you hang around so it’ has always been very important to keep creative minds and positive energy around me .
