We had the good fortune of connecting with Luke Lorick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Luke, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Tailgating Challenge was born from a dream one night in which I had to jump out of bed and get the vision started. I started a Facebook page that night that now has over 190,000 fans and this rolled into Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and our website. Tailgating Challenge was born out of my passion for tailgating and doing something FUN as a ‘side hustle’. Getting to test out hundreds of fun products, meeting awesome people and bringing something fun to all of fans is what keeps me going.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Tailgating Challenge is something I still do with my free time outside of my corporate America job and it took years of working in the morning, on breaks, in the night and on the weekends to get Tailgating Challenge to one of the most popular tailgating entities in the world. We even took our passion for what we do and turned it into TWO National Days: National Tailgating Day and National Homegating Day Being able to form a national day that people across America celebrate is something that I’m proud of. Something that people can get excited for and have some fun, is what we need more of in this day and age. Along the way many challenges will come up and you have to keep looking for a way around the adversity. From changes in social media, the business contracts gone bad you will experience pitfalls and you must learn from them.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Waxahachie TX you have to check out the iconic town square, the court house even appeared in an episode of Walker Texas Ranger. Then go over to Railport Brewing to get some ice cold brews with great people and a fun atmosphere. May I recommend the Honey Hush. When you need a bite to eat head over to Cork and Keg and grab some of their crab cakes, best I’ve had in the state of Texas.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to my neighbors Larry and “Sketchy” who help with all of the fun videos we do! They help make things fun and come on with a name like Sketchy you got to love him, right?
