Meet Lizi Gregory | Mary Kay Independent Sales Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lizi Gregory and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lizi, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I’ve always felt that balance is an illusive thing. So often we are trying to “balance” all aspects of our life, but I have always felt more exhausted when I am trying to balance everything! I find “balance” by defining my priorities and living my life according to those principles! Instead of seeking balance, I live according to my priorities and my principles. Mary Kay Ash always believed in putting faith first, family second and career third. I’ve found that when I put these things in that order, I feel more fulfilled. I don’t feel guilty when I’m spending time with my family, and I don’t feel guilty when I’m working my business, because I’ve aligned my life and my schedule with these priorities. Having a life outside of my career is just as important to me as actually having a career. I love that my life and my business are centered around my priorities. That is what makes my life feel “balanced”.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a beauty consultant, my job is to help women find the perfect skincare and makeup routine for their lifestyle. To me, it is so much more than that, though. I believe that a woman’s confidence increases when she loves her skin and is wearing her favorite shade of lipstick. I’m not just working to help someone find the right foundation shade (although I absolutely can), I am working to make her feel special, important, and valued. Hopefully, that will also increase her confidence. One of my favorite things to do is to curate a list of customized Mary Kay products for my clients! If there’s one thing I’ve learned while working with many different women (and many different skin types) it’s that a good skin-care routine lays the foundation for flawless makeup application. I swear by the Mary Kay Naturally Nourishing Oil, which keeps my skin feeling hydrated and ultra smooth. I don’t think I could live without my ClearProof Deep-Cleansing Charcoal Mask, which helps me tackle those annoying blackheads. I use the TimeWise Replenishing Serum C+E every day to give my skin some extra resilience. I also love Mary Kay’s new Unlimited Lip Gloss — it’s really moisturizing and is an easy way to look put together without having to put on a whole face of makeup for a virtual consultation with a client or a team member. As an Independent Sales Director, leading a large team of women, I believe what sets us apart from other opportunities is our culture. Through my business, I have the privilege of coaching and empowering other Independent Beauty Consultants, helping them build the lives they desire for themselves, whatever that looks like for them. I am not just working for my personal success, but I am able to support other women in writing their own success stories. I love that my business is not just about me. My business is all about helping other people win. For me, that is more important than only having personal success. Of course, sometimes the journey can be stressful or scary. Reminding myself that my business is not just about me, helps to center me.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I ALWAYS take visiting friends and family to Rodeo Goat for a burger and goat chips, Pecan Lodge for the best BBQ, and Emporium Pies for a tasty treat. I’m a foodie, so most of my fun centers around delicious food! The Perot Museum is always a great place to go, and if the weather is nice, Klyde Warren Park is a must!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Mary Kay Way written by Mary Kay Ash. This book has taught me so much about life, leadership and empowering women. I also have to shoutout my Mary Kay family! My sister directors who have elevated my thinking and my amazing team of consultants who enrich my life every single day. The friends that I have made through my Mary Kay business have forever impacted my life and my thinking, and I am truly grateful.
