We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Marvin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Since art is so personal, you really do have to create from your soul to really connect with other people. Although there is a lot of beautiful art out there, I think intuitively people just click with things that flow from a special place.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been a portrait artist for years, and just stumbled on the bloom technique. It is a more advanced style of pour painting. Although this past year has been such a struggle for the world, without this time of forced seclusion, I would not have been able to achieve what I have. I could never have imagined that this would become a full time job! The most important thing that I have learned is, always go with the flow and express your individuality and creativity, because you never know where it can lead you!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m from Toronto, but have been living at our cottage in the middle of nowhere for the past year, so all I’ve got is my art studio!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be where I am today without Shelee Caruthers who spear headed the Bloom Technique. Her class, and Facebook group that comes with it, is invaluable, and a wonderful place to connect to helpful and positive people!
