We had the good fortune of connecting with Lexi Henry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lexi, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
You can never put limitations on yourself, ever. The minute you set a limitation is the minute you inhibited yourself from further growth. When it came to starting my business, I knew in order to succeed I couldn’t listen to anyone else’s opinion who would not help me get to where I needed to be. People that set limitations on themselves will try to set them for you too. This can look like, “that’s expensive, don’t do that” or “I wouldn’t waste my time on that if I were you.”
Surrounding myself with like-minded individuals who dream big and set high goals was one of the biggest lessons I learned.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets my photography and videography apart from the rest is the intention of art. The idea of art is to evoke emotion to the viewer. When people book me for a session, whether it be their wedding day or a short senior shoot, I want them to know that the products produced are carefully crafted images to showcase who they are. I spend a lot of time editing each individual image to ensure they’re a representation of my art. I photoshop out things from the background that aren’t visually pleasing to help tell the narrative of the photo and make it as seamless and flawless as possible.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The best part about Dallas to me is the skyline. I get inspired most at the tops of building. I’m not one to check out bars and new restaurants, I would rather be under the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge or at the top of a parking garage watching a sunset.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for my late father, Mike Rodriguez. I was fortunate enough to grow up with a dad who was a professional sales person, business coach, mentor, and professional speaker. I was privileged to have his guidance and expertise shape me into who I am today. He unfortunately passed away in the fall of 2021, there isn’t a day I live without thinking of him.
