We had the good fortune of connecting with Lexi Daly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lexi, what are you inspired by?
My love for animals inspired me to start my foundation called Blankets for Buddies. I would like to take care of every living being that God has created. I believe there is a home for every animal. By collecting treats, toys, food and other items that animals need, and taking them to animal shelters, I believe it’s one small act that can make this world a better place.

I have a dog and his name is Duke. I love him very much and he also inspires me by reminding me of how we helped him. Seeing his excitement to be with our family made me aware of animal’s feelings, how real they are and that made me want to help more.

I know I’m only nine years old, but I believe we can all make a difference, we just have to start!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
At the age of four, I stepped on to a stage for the first time and won the title of “Wee Miss Texas”. I begged my parents to compete in a pageant and was so happy to practice for hours and hours. My family loves being involved with non-profits and local communities and that’s been the best part of getting involved in pageants. It’s a fun way to share my passions like Blankets for Buddies, with others.

If I’m not competing in a pageant, or collecting items for Blankets for Buddies, you can find me building Legos, playing piano, acting on a commercial set or modeling for Rebel Athletics. I’m a very active fourth grader and my university model school program, allows for me to have more time with my family and in the creative arts.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My friend would have to visit my backyard! We moved here for the two acres that back up to a creek. My sister and I love exploring the wooded area. I would also take my friend to the Rebel Athletic Store because there’s always something fun going on and I love shopping. We’d have to have dinner at the Magic Time Machine in Addison because every room is a theme and the servers are all characters, it’s so fun!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My sister, Zoey, is three years older than me and she started her foundation, Hearts for Heroes, helping First Responders. That inspired me to find what I loved and to start serving too.

Of course, I would not be able to attend, collect donations or setup events without the help and support of my parents, Daniel and Jennifer. Without them, I would not have had the courage to start talking to crowds and working in the community.

Last, I have to thank the many businesses that have invited me out to hold collection events. Without their support, I would not have the donations I have or be able to help the animals I’ve been helping. Thank you to the Frisco Roughriders, Piper’s Puporium, Fire Nutrition and the Patriot Sandwich Shop.
