Meet Leesa Wolf | Frios Gourmet Pops Fort Worth Franchise Owner & Operator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Leesa Wolf and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leesa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I am an emergency room nurse and during the pandemic the stress of my job has taking a toll on my personal health, relationships, and my family. I was absolutely exhausted after a 12 hour shift turned into a 14-16 hour shift at least once or twice a week during the peak of COVID. I am a team player and hard worker. I don’t like to let people down so I work until I cannot work anymore which has led to burn out like so many nurses. We love to care for patients and make people feel better but the demand of our jobs is very high. When I got home I had nothing left to give to my family. I would take a shower and go straight to bed most days in order to get up and do it all over again. My friend’s who live in Aledo kept telling me about Frios Gourmet Pops in Aledo and said we needed one in Fort Worth. I have always been interested in owning a franchise. I drove up to Aledo, ordered a 12 pack of pops to go, and took them home. I invited my close friends over to my house and husband, son, and myself all had a fun taste testing session. They just thought I was being nice which I was but I also wanted their opinions on the pops. They absolutely loved Frios, they were devoured in less than 10 minutes. I knew then this business was for me. I needed a change, I bought a Frios Gourmet Pops franchise and started our mobile business in Fort Worth. I am the majority owner and operator of our business and love every minute of it. It’s amazing to see all the smiles when my ice cream truck arrives to an event, grand opening, or sporting event around town.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most excited about the opportunities this business has brought to me and my family in this last year. The flexibility alone has been one of my favorites. I make my own schedule and work events in-between baseball games and various school events. I started this business because I needed a job with flexibility and found the jackpot. I sell happiness on a stick. Our trademark is “Happiness Hustlers.” We are like the cool Aunt or Uncle you remember as a kid (cool, gives you the best gifts, and fun). Frios Gourmet Pops Ft. Worth is happy, promoting good vibes and serving up a superb product from first bite. I have met so many cool people along this pop journey and look forward to a happy future. It is important to give back. We accept donations for first responders, participate in fundraisers (schools, sports teams, and non profit organizations), donate pops to non profits like Operation Homefront, Cowtown Marathon, & Crohn’s & Colitis organization.
I love meeting with new people and serving up the most delicious ice cream pops & fresh fruit pops in town. The word spreads like wild fire when someone tastes the difference in a Frios Gourmet Pop, it’s better than any other pop they have ever tried. The challenge with Frios Ft. Worth has been changing the minds of the public. We aren’t a normal ice cream/water based popsicle that tastes like every other ice cream you can buy in a grocery store. A ton of love and hard work is poured into our pops. We puree real fruit, add pure cane sugar and that’s it. I offer gluten free, dairy free, nut free, dye free, vegan, and no sugar added options. We always have something for everyone on our truck, cart, or delivery.
We have lots of room to grow and if you are interested in becoming a happiness hustler, love ice cream, and need flexibility, feel free to reach out. I am always looking to help entrepreneurs find the best job ever!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to the Modern Arts Museum, Chadra Mezza for lunch, they have a great buffet, then the water gardens, stockyards for some shopping, grab a drink at Joe T Garcia’s patio, then end the day with dinner at 97 West.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The person that has made the biggest impact on my business is my husband, Eric Wolf. He is a West Point Graduate ’92, Army veteran, Airborne Ranger. He is the hardest working person I know other than myself. He supports and encourages me to be the version of myself and believe in myself. When things get tough or sales are down he gives me great ideas to turn the downturns back up which I attribute to his time at West Point and army training. He is my rock and I’m so grateful for Eric being in my life.
