We had the good fortune of connecting with Le’ Pri Edmond and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Le’ Pri, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

Hello! I’m Le’ Pri, Lifestyle Coach and founder of KETO Me Please, LLC. As a Lifestyle Coach, I enjoy helping others sustain and maintain lifelong health and fitness goals through a ketogenic and low-carb lifestyle. When I think back on the process behind starting my own business, I realize I have always enjoyed helping others. But what I never foreseen in my future was me helping others get a better control of their health. I say this because, I have not always been the healthiest person. I struggled with high blood pressure and my weight due to poor eating habits, lack of exercise, and just not taking control of my health.

I enjoy helping others reach a point in their health journey where they start to feel the benefits of being in control of their health and they can feel some of the same benefits that I began to feel after I took better control of my health. It is not just about shedding pounds and seeing the numbers on the scale decrease, but the overall reward and benefits of being healthier. I am most inspired by seeing the success of others that I have coached and their health results.

How did I come up with the idea for my business? Honestly, it was the support and motivation of others who encouraged me to launch a business as a lifestyle coach to coach others. Secondly, I shared in another article my personal experience with mental health, specifically severe depression, and anxiety as a result of trauma from my previous career which encouraged me to explore entrepreneurship after deciding to transition out of social work. I figured, entrepreneurship would be a wonderful opportunity for me to take the knowledge that I have and pass it on to others. I am also a huge advocate for mental health awareness and have become more vocal about the topic due to my personal experience.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

As a Lifestyle Coach, helping others sustain and maintain lifelong health and fitness goals through a ketogenic and low-carb lifestyle is a passion of mine. In my spare time I like to spend my free time browsing keto and low carb inspired recipes/cookbooks and cocktails. I started my journey to becoming a lifestyle coach without knowing I had the tools to be one in 2019. At the time, I started a ketogenic (keto) lifestyle to get in better health and eliminate some health issues I had been diagnosed with due to poor eating habits and a lack of being active physically. I refer to this as a lifestyle and not a “diet” because lifestyles are defined as “habits and customs influenced by a lifelong process” vs. diets often are short-term and lifelong behavior changes are not sustained or maintained. Healthy lifestyle factors are the adaptable behaviors and ways of life that influence an individual’s health and wellbeing. The most crucial and important factor behind my success is that I made my journey a lifestyle, not a short-term diet.

Some of you might be asking yourself “What is a ketogenic/keto lifestyle”? “Ketogenic” or “keto” is a term for a low-carb diet. The idea is for you to get more calories from protein and fat and less from carbohydrates. You cut back most on carbs like sugar, soda, pastries, and bread. The goal of ketogenic diets is to send the body into a state of “ketosis” by using a very strict low-carb diet and essentially restricting yourself to a limited small window of carbohydrates. Many research studies have found that a ketogenic or low carb lifestyle promotes weight loss and lowers blood sugar and insulin levels due to the reduced carb consumption, which may treat and possibly reverse type 2 diabetes. The two lifestyles have been said to be an effective way to lower blood pressure, which should reduce the risk of heart disease and help you live longer. My favorite quote, is a quote of my own that I came up with as I was thinking about my mindset when coaching others that resonates with me all the time and I would like to share it with my readers as well.

“We achieve better results and sustainability when we set goals to improve and focus on our overall health and fitness, than when we solely set goals to only lose weight”. -KETO Me Please LLC, Founder.

As a Lifestyle Coach, I offer 1:1 coaching and group sessions to those who are interested in a ketogenic or low carb lifestyle. I discuss and create meal plans with clients and host my very own online virtual support group with an overall focus on health and weight loss. I take pride in using a non-traditional “cookie-cutter” approach to customize needs and services to my clients.

The challenges that come with entrepreneurship and launching a business are taking risks. Often, we as humans think if anything feels scary, it must be too risky to do or too uncomfortable to manage, so we avoid it altogether. The anxiety within us causes us to overestimate the level of risk we face. But what happens to individuals who constantly avoid risks? They live far beneath their potential so with that being said, soon I plan to take a risk and launch a product line which will consist of fitness apparel, recipe books, cookbooks, signature keto/low carb cocktail recipe books, meal prep services, and so much more!! My business website is coming soon as well!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a tough question, lol. I really have to put my thinking cap on for this one because I live in a city where there are endless places and fun events to visit. Lately, I have been wanting to dedicate time volunteering at a local shelter or business that helps others who are in need. So, to start the week off, the itinerary would consist of spending a day or at least half of the day doing a random act of kindness helping others and giving back by volunteering our time.

Anyone who knows me, know that I love Perry’s Steakhouse, so it would definitely be on the list of restaurants to dine in at for dinner. Living off the lake, you also cannot visit me without experiencing a sunset cruise boat ride off Lake Ray Hubbard. So, get ready to enjoy a cool breeze on the lake waters of Lake Ray Hubbard as we prepare for an enjoyable fun time on the Harbor Lights and Sapphire Moon cruise on the lake. Oh, and what is a sunset cruise without good wine and cheeses! I would be sure to pack a cute picnic basket with fine cheeses to choose from and wine.

I also love a good happy hour!! And if it is a rainy day, we are hitting up Parliament. Located in the heart of Uptown Dallas, this neighborhood cocktail bar offers a cozy and welcoming vibe, along with an advanced cocktail list. It is the ideal bar for a date night, social gathering, or anytime your evening may be uplifted by a well-crafted cocktail. Parliament offers a ridiculously good happy hour all day on Monday, 5-8pm Tuesday-Saturday, and anytime it rains!! Where else can you score that big, lol. I’m also adding a couple local “speakeasy” bars to the itinerary for some afterhours fun too.

We would also explore local museums and aquariums Downtown Dallas. On a cool night if the weather permits, we would also enjoy exploring other surrounding cities in the DFW’s downtown area. Let’s also add a spa day, massages, and some great self-care pampering to the itinerary!

Other local hotspots in the DFW area:

Velvet Taco (Addison)
Sushi Axiom (Addison)
Ocean Prime (Dallas, Uptown)
Meso Maya Comida y Copas (Addison)
Yard House (Addison)
XOXO Dining Room (Dallas, Uptown)
Kiss (Dallas, Uptown)
Room 520 (Downtown, Dallas)
Bodega Speakeasy (Fort Worth)

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I could go on and on with this shoutout, lol. But I do not want to overlook any of those who have played a significant role of importance in my life, so I want to first give a shoutout to my family and friends who have supported me and my journey. My support network has always encouraged me to never give up and listened to my ideas when I had one (or several, lol) to share.

I also want to give a big shoutout to all Black owned businesses, entrepreneurs, and those individuals like myself who are still testing the waters with entrepreneurship trying to reach their goals. When I find myself venturing off track, I like to read one of my favorite books titled “Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action” by author Simon Sinek. Shoutout to Simon Sinek, this book allowed me to reach levels of brilliance that I never envisioned being attainable! Reading this book opened my eyes and mind to see things from a variety of different perspectives and allowed me to grow personally as an individual and professionally in so many ways.

I would also like to thank each reader in advance for taking the time to read my success story.
