We had the good fortune of connecting with Laurie-Beth Little and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laurie-Beth, what do you attribute your success to?
I feel the most important factor behind my success is constantly changing with the world, from going online, to going on my own, to having a social media presence. I have been doing this a long time and the changes within the industry are so ever-changing. I pride myself on being able to adapt and have an open and honest way of communication with my clients. You can text me, you don’t have to deal with a front desk. If you have questions about what shampoo and conditioner used by when you’re out on vacation, I would much rather a client text me directly, then wonder if they’re making the right decision. Also, since the pandemic people have changed the way they want to experience the salon. I feel that people want privacy and a one on one studio experience then to be an allowed salon with three different people working on them and not being able to talk about their problems because somebody could be listening. Since moving to a private studio, my business has changed drastically.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I really feel that you have to love what you do to be successful. I don’t feel like I work at all. I go to work and get to chat to wonderful people from all different paths and hear their stories, while I create what they discussed in our consultation. I ask so many questions and a consultation and most new clients ask why I ask him any questions. It is very important for me to spend time on the consultation, without that you cannot move forward. I want to be on the same page as my clients and I want to understand them with visuals and magazine clippings and different Google images

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I really don’t go out at all. I have a very fulfilling life at home with my friends and family, but I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Even though I’ve lived half of my life and other places. I do love the greatness of tex-Mex food and how important it is to the Dallas culture. I just bought a house in Oak Cliff which is south of downtown and there is a great restaurant called “Tacos y Vino”. It is owned by a wonderful man by the name of Jimmy and he started his restaurant. At the same time I started my studio. It is a great place to go and sit and listen to great music and have tacos my boyfriend lives out of state and when he comes here that is the first place he wants to go to get tacos

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are definitely many individuals who made me who I am today in the industry and who I trained under that I feel were very important to my success. When I was young and my career was an assistant in Los Angeles, I was an assistant to Sharon Gault, I was on set with David LaChapelle and numerous celebrities. I was exposed to the excitement right away, so she taught me how to concentrate on the task at hand and how to do the research to create a character. I worked on many music videos and photo shoots and watching the creative team of hair stylists and makeup artists was very inspiring. I owe my interest in continuing to her.
