We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Ronquille and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Photography is such a technical art. There is so much that goes into it from your settings to the angles that you choose to shoot from. I believe every photographer is different and we all have a unique view which is a challenge in the industry but also I think that’s what makes us unique. Everyone has a different style of shooting and editing which is great for clients because there’s so much diversity out there that no one has to settle for someone they’re not 100% in love with the style.
It definitely wasn’t easy getting to where I am today professionally. I never really believed that photography would be a career for me because I didn’t think that it would pull in enough income which is a common myth. When I graduated I went the safe route and took a Marketing job. I liked it but I didn’t love it and I got to the point where I dreaded going to work every day. With the support of my fiance I was able to start my business and really bring in the income to jump to doing photography full time. I still struggle mentally thinking I’m not good enough and I have severe imposter syndrome sometimes but he’s been so great about pulling me back into reality and showing me that I am worth what I charge and that I am talented.
I like to tell my clients that I’m their unofficial maid of honor. I realize they already have a maid of honor when they’re getting married but I truly want to become friends with all of my clients so that they’re comfortable with me and we have fun during our shoots. I believe that if they’re comfortable then we will get the best photos that tells their love story.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There’s so many fun things to do in Dallas! I live in Terrell and would prefer to not drive super far if I don’t have to so we’d try to stay in that area. With that being said we’d go to Zoofari in Kaufman because we have to go see animals, we’d go to Whisked Away Bakery and get the best cookies and coffee, and we’d go to Nina’s Brunch for mimosas.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my growth to my fiance Justin. Without his support I never would have believed in myself enough.
