We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Lanza Osias and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
As a mom of two young children, juggling work and the passion project of writing a book has been no easy task. But I think there is no better way to teach your kiddos responsibility, hard work, problem-solving, time management, and more, by modeling those actions for them. I’ve had to set stringent boundaries to make sure that my family life is preserved and I’ve had to learn to be okay with letting the unimportant balls drop, knowing that the things I am doing and saying yes to, I’m doing with my whole heart.
When I decided to write a novel, I wasn’t sure it would be possible, but I did it, writing in pockets of time whenever I could and I finished writing that book because it was important to me. I want them to see that making your dream happen can be tough and you might want to give up a dozen times, but the pride of accomplishment and the additional knowledge that you glean from your journey is priceless.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Simply put, I love helping people figure out how they want the world to see their brand, their work, and their products in the most authentic way possible. Whether it’s building a Squarespace website that is tailored to their vision or helping clients demystify Instagram; it’s about how they can provide value to their customers and build lasting relationships with those potential customers. If you are looking for a pure numbers game, I’m not the marketing consultant for you, and setting that boundary early on has directed me to like-minded clients looking to grow their social media in a meaningful way.
So many people I work with are just not sure where to start and I understand the hesitation, imposter syndrome is so strong that we start to question every move we make, because—what will people think? And I say, to hell with that! Being uniquely you is the only real currency we have on these platforms where it’s so hard to know what’s real and what’s not. I like pushing past the noise of social media to figure out how businesses can most easily work effective social media into their process.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, the first stop would be brunch at Spiral Diner, we would head to SoMa to walk around and pop our heads into Morgan Mercantile, then grab something to drink at Locust Cider or Trantula’s Tiki Lounge before heading to Tinie’s for dinner. Those. Sides.
We would probably head to the Fort Worth Zoo one day and then grab lunch at Pizza Verde, the best vegan pizza in FW. Maybe pop into Monkey and Dog bookstore and spend forever talking with the amazing staff about their latest favorites.
I would have to take them on at least one walk on the Trinity, I like to start from The Trailhead at Clearfork, then afterward we might snag a mezze platter from Press Cafe, before we head to Coyote Drive-In to watch a movie.
If I was feeling feisty we might drive over to Dallas and walk around the Bishops Arts District before grabbing food at The Vegan Food House or Casa Del Vegano.
Then tacos… so many tacos… Mariachi’s Dine-In, Salsa Limon, Torchy’s, Velvet Taco… How much space do I have?? I’ll stop, but I don’t want to.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My dear friend, Lauren Farmer, took a chance on me—a mom of two with no formal marketing or design training when she offered me the chance to develop and hone my skills and hired me as her brand manager for the Sip Dine Design Agency. I would not be where I am today or have the skillset that I do without her guidance and training.
And Leslie Lutz! I recently finished writing my first novel and Leslie has been my biggest cheerleader as I learn and grow as an author. Her knowledge and willingness to share openly the inner workings of the publishing trade has been the most amazing blessing. She is magic, definitely go check out her book!
