Meet Lauren Kellison | Event Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Kellison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote is one by Rosa Nouchette Carey and it goes, “Do it with passion or not at all.” I value these words as a reminder that I am lucky to be able to enjoy my day to day work. I got into the business I did because I love what I do, and regardless of daily trials that test patience, it’s always refreshing to be reminded that I get to do something I throughly enjoy for work.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My path hasn’t been a very straight forward one, it’s definitely been a road less travelled. Being a former professional ballerina, my career path took a big change when I retired my performance career and become an event planner. I have experience in corporate event planning from my young professional life, and that combined with my creative artistic side and love of working with smaller companies, has led me down a path of becoming an event planner for boutique event venues. Starting out on my own was definitely a challenge, but persistence is an entrepreneur’s best friend. With a lot of effort in networking and making local connections, and keeping small goals in mind along with big dreams, success is achievable.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our go to spot to visit around the area is the Fort Worth Stockyards. There’s lots of restaurants, bars, and shops to check out, some of our go-to favorites are the Stockyards Rodeo, the Basement Bar, the White Elephant Saloon, and of course, Billy Bobs Texas. We’ve been doing a little more local exploring lately as we’re fairly new to this side of town, but we’ve enjoyed the Four Day Weekend comedy show in Fort Worth, eating at Shep’s or the Downtown Cantina in downtown Weatherford, and of course, check out the events happening at Black Ranch Event Center (the venue I plan & help with events at!).
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My biggest supporter has been my husband, Kevan. I am beyond grateful to have always had him in my corner, encouraging me to be persistent and helping me along in the frustrating times, as well as being proud when things have been successful.
