We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Being creative is a way for me to stretch my mind. Thinking of new ways to express myself and help other express themselves at the same time! Photography has been my favorite art medium to explore. Adapting my own, moody style has allowed me to find my own path in a busy industry. It’s food for the soul.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel like everything is laced with challenges as an entrepreneur and not enough people talk about it. Being a business owner comes with keeping your head on a swivel in every aspect of what you do. And as creatives that work expands even more. Our heart and soul goes into our craft because with out it you can’t connect to your audience. And that would be one of my bigger lessons, to connect. You have to put yourself into your business so your audience can find you. Working with dream clients means you have to wave your freak flag so they can find you!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Pursuing a creative career in a family that is a mix of blue collar and white collar was challenging. Support didn’t really come as much as the doubt did. And that’s their job as parents. So I had to turn to my photographer community and friends for encouragement. Which was small and with the undertone of “just keep going.” So I did, and the most substantial support I received was from with in myself.
