We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Leyva and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly, there was absolutely no thought process at all! I always loved to look at photographs and see the all the emotion, and history in them! To me, photos are the only way to freeze time. When you see a photo, it always take you back to that special moment and allows you to relive it over and over again.

I had this dream of becoming a photographer & I had to go chase my dream.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Photography is art, there is no right or wrong way to do it! We all interpret it differently and have different perspectives of it.

I have deep passion for photography, any kind, but my favorite is families and kids. As a mother of 5, I like to feel like I have a few years of experience under my belt and tons of patience. Kids are unpredictable but that’s the beauty of them and I love to find ways to capture their personalities, whatever that might be.

I am most proud about my growth, knowledge, and confidence I’ve gained since I started. The process is NEVER never easy, if it was, you didn’t appreciate it as much!

Trust yourself, trust your instincts, trust God, don’t compare yourself to others, build a good community, and take notes! (of the good and the bad)!

All my clients are my family! When I pick up the camera, I strive to capture every individual/family in the most perfect way as if they were my own.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would probably be the worst friend!… I have no clue what’s good or what’s trendy, aside from cartoons, lullabies, and a good playground! lol

I will say the we have a couple of places we enjoy the most. The Stockyards in Fort Worth is a real Texas experience!…and we love to do the train ride from Grapevine to Fort worth and spent the day at The Stockyards.
If you are up for an adventure, off-roading is a must, there is nothing like being outside and letting loose!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, is my biggest supporter, & of course my everyday fuel, my kids!
