We had the good fortune of connecting with Lashyra Childress and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lashyra, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risk are very important and play a big part in having your own business because that is what separates a dream from reality. The biggest risk I have taken thus far was quitting my 9-5 job at walmart and pursuing my business full time. This played a huge role in my life because I was so afraid of failing and I felt like I was losing that extra financial security my job gave me. When I finally took that risk I felt such a huge relief and I was so thankful that I had finally made it to this point.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of having my own business and at the time I never knew exactly what I wanted to do I just knew I wanted to be my own Boss and I wanted to do something that made women look and feel beautiful . LC Bundles & More was launched May 7th 2018. I came up with the idea of selling hair extensions because I myself was always struggling to find a hair company that had consistent good quality for a good price. I knew once I started my business I could be that person. I believe that what sets me apart from others is my passion and my drive. I literally started my business from the ground up with nothing handed to me and I don’t look at it as job because this is something I love to do. When you love what you do nothing or nobody can stand in your way. Along with selling hair I am also a hair/wig stylist. Being In the hair industry has been nothing short of amazing. The joy I get from making women feel and look beautiful is what keeps me going. My business journey so far has not been easy but it has been rewarding. I’m so grateful for all the good days along with the bad ones because it has helped me build character, learn self discipline and learning that being comfortable with being uncomfortable is the only way I’ll grow. I’ve grown so much as business woman and my business is growing more and more each day and I’m so excited to take it to the next level with opening up my new Salon/Wig Store next year.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of my favorite spots here are Brick & Forge it’s a restaurant that serves really good brunch, you can get drinks and they have great dinner. We have a Cinemark movie theater that I love to go to.
We have a Trampoline park that’s fun for kids and adults.
A go-kart race track.
I love going to the outlet malls to do a lil shopping.
We have a few nightclubs and bars that serve really good drinks and plays good music.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d really love to give a shoutout to my friends, my Uncle Philip Brown & my Aunt Quiana Daniels. My friends have been such a huge support since I started my business rather it’s them coming to my events, sharing my post, shopping with me or referring people to me. I truly believe they believed in me before I believed in myself. My Uncle Philip has been my mentor for a few years now. He was actually the first person I called when I decided to quit my job and he flat out told me “Quit today”. He saw more potential in me that I seen in myself at that moment. He has always been only a phone call away whenever I need him. Little does he know I look up to him in so many ways.
My Aunt Quiana is one of the smartest and goal driven women I know. She is the one who introduced manifesting and writing out my goals to me as a child. No matter where she is or what she is doing she always finds time to be there for me when I need her. Rather it’s encouraging words, business tips or just a listening ear she is always there.
