Meet Lashawn Johnson | CEO and Doctor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lashawn Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lashawn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I am probably what you call a serial entrepreneur as I have had multiple small business from a catering company to a travel agency which I still own. But on 2017, I decided to loc my hair about 9 months after my son Myles. As I started looking for products to manage both our locs I realized that nothing I purchase really worked for us. So I started researching and playing with different formulas to determine the best daily routine for my hair. Once I figured it out I shared with my son who started to use it as well. Over time we would constantly get who does your hair and what do you use. We always share our Locticans information but when it came to the question of what we use it was alway just a little something we make at home. LOL. Eventually, I started making more and sharing it with friend and family, who always encouraged me to market it but I would just shake my head. Flash forward to 2022, my grandson Sire, was born in March and by May he had a sever form of cradle cap and no hair. I started to apply my oil blend to his scalp and soon we noticed his scalp was healing and he was actual sprouting hair a few month later his hair had grown back to where it was when he was born. It was seeing the improvement in his scalp and hair that encouraged me to start Sires Crown. I

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a project manager by nature. For the last 24 years I have done project management and other business management roles for AT&T. During this time I have been in Chief of Staff roles, Performance Development. Data Analysis and many other roles. My experience spans a multitude of business experiences. Additionally, I am a certified Project Management Professional and have a Doctorate of Business Administration and I teach Project Management for several universities.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting, I think I would start Friday night at one of my favorite little bars just down the street from my house in Mckinney, Texas called Zin Zen it is always a good spot to start the weekend. Saturday, I would take her to Kitchen and Kocktails for lunch in downtown Dallas maybe even walk though Clyde Warren Park or the Dallas Farmers Market. Followed by a little shopping at either the Galleria or NorthPark just depends on the mood. Saturday night I am likely to just chill at the house and invite a few more people over. Sunday is just downtime for me unless we spend a little time in Legacy West in Plano.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely, my husband Doug Johnson, he has always been by my side and supporting me in every venture I have taken on whether he understood my vision or not he has always championed it. When I decided to start Sires Crown, I had been up all night writing and thinking by the time he woke I had created the logo and share it with him. His excitement made it all real for me and encouraged me to move forward.
