We had the good fortune of connecting with Larry Miller Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Larry, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
One thing about the creative industry that outsiders are not aware of is that it is highly competitive and not so easy at times. Although others may see your finished product, most never stop and realize what it took to get their. A lot of late nights and early mornings, that’s for sure.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is about advancing in the field. I stay abreast of the latest techniques in my industry. I believe that beauty is objective and my focus is on my client’s experience. My goals is to amplify my clients request and grow as a professional. Im constantly challenging myself to be more innovative. What sets me apart from other photographers and videographers in the industry is my skill to bring multiple services and not just one to my clients. I’m proficient in photos, videos, and graphics not just one. Im most proud of my decisions of growing the value of my business by purchasing and investing time and money back into it. Like recently, I just purchased a drone and can now offer drone footage to my services that I offer. I got to where I am today through hard work and consistency. Although, it was not easy at all, it has been a good educational journey that I will never forget. I overcame challenges by asking mentors and close friends that have businesses how they have handled particular situations that I caught myself up against. I’ve learned that not everything happens overnight. Patience is key to success in any industry. Also, to always remain a student in the industry that you are in if you want to grow as a person or business. I want the world to know that Don Photography is ingenious and provides high quality service in every area.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting for a week I would definitely take them to true kitchen at least one day out of the week. We would visit areas like deep ellum, bishop arts district, and the highlands in arlington for brunch, dinner, or breakfast. I would take him/her to different art museums and maybe even the aquarium. We would have fun at six flags, hurricane harbor, and any amusement park within a 50mile radius. I love touring the city to find new food places. For the nightlife I would take them to the nines bar one night, bar hop in deep ellum one of the nights and far as clubs go, I believe status or townehouse are two good clubs to go to. I also would have them try pharoahs hookah lounge and see how they like the vibes there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to Sweet Savage and Galaxy Nine for giving me an opportunity to showcase my skills in video during the weekends at the Nines bar in deep ellum. I really feel like this was a pinnacle moment in my career as a creator because they were the very first ones who saw my talent and what I could bring to the table on any team. I also want to recognize D’Aria Hookfin of HookedOn Entertainment and VIP SOCIO for extending their hands in helping me maintain and find valuable clients to push my business forward.
