We had the good fortune of connecting with LaQuintta Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaQuintta, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
One habit that I feel helped me succeed in my career is my curiosity. When I come across something that I don’t know much about or someone ask me a question and I don’t have a answer for them, I will make it my job to educate myself on whatever it is. By doing that, when I come across the subject again I am well educated on it. Another habit that I have is always challenging myself. I never get comfortable where I am, I always strive to find how I can be better! I believe that there is always a better than where you are today!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a Child Birth Educator and Birth Doula I have many roles. I support women and their families from the moment they find out there are pregnant, all the way to months after their baby is born! I believe what sets me apart from others is my passion. Being a Doula is more than a career for me. I truly love what I do! I make real connections with these women and their families and I try my best to stay connected with them even after my job as a Doula is complete in their lives. I will tell anyone that being a Doula is not for the weak! It comes with many challenges physically, mentally and emotionally. Not every labor is quick, not ever birth goes as planned and you have to be prepared for anything! Some lessons I learned along the way is stay flexible. Every client is different and so is every birth. I listen to each and everyone of my clients as if I have never done this before. I want them to know that I’m there for them every step of the way and I won’t leave their side. Something I want the world to know about my story is that I get it. I’m a mother of two, I’ve been through different battles and never will I ever judge a mother no matter the circumstances. I’m here to support her and that’s exactly what I do!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was coming to visit me the first thing that would be on my mind is food! I am absolute foodie! Places we would eat would be Indian, Mexican, honestly everything but American food! I would take her to explore all the different scenery downtown and in the city. There’s so much to see and great places to take pictures! I love being outdoors and being adventurous so we would probably look up so nice parks/trails. I would also take her zip lining because that is something that I have found to love to do as well!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
100% credit of my success go’s to God. If it wasn’t for God I absolutely would not be where I am today! If I was to give recognition to anyone else it would be first, my husband. My husband has supported me since day one! He listens to all my hopes and dreams and tells me every single time that I’m going to succeed in every single one of them! His motivation pushes me harder than I could ever push myself! Lastly I would give recognition to my family! Each and everyone of them have supported me in many different ways. All the way from having me as their Birth Doula, making me custom clothing, and making sure my kids are always taken care of. Nothing goes unnoticed and I am forever thankful for every single person that has supported me along the way!
