We had the good fortune of connecting with Lahoma Abdus-Salaam and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lahoma, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My business goal is to change the world one family at a time. I coach people for a variety of reasons and in different areas of their lives. Some of the main focus areas are releasing anxiety, manifesting desired outcomes, healing relationships, and conscious parenting (or parenting challenges). I help people create a life they love. By listening to my clients, I’m able to show them their beliefs, or rather blueprint for their life, and whether it matches what they desire. If it doesn’t match, then I work with them to change it so they get the outcome they desire most.
In addition, I have partnered with others to speak to groups, host healing circles and to create a podcast to assist with shifting consciousness within the black community in regards to worthiness, racism, wealth and health. It’s important that we start changing the current narrative and creating a new story. My desire is to help create a world that works for everyone.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The services I offer include public speaking, coaching sessions, classes, workshops, dream interpretations, house clearings/blessings, and visioning for individuals, organizations and corporations. The coaching sessions enable healing of relationship issues and sometimes ailments. I have a client that I’ve assisted in helping her release the emotional and mental patterns that were behind her headaches. The classes and workshops I facilitate allow people to learn and practice principles that empower them to manifest their hearts desires. Dream interpretation is powerful because it helps me to show someone how they are processing their experience and if there is any inner guidance from their subconscious. The house clearings and blessings remove negative or stagnant energy and infuse the home with energy to support peace, wellbeing and prosperity and intentions of the homeowner. Visioning is a very powerful tool that I use to tap into the highest good for a person, group or desired outcome. I used it to assist the CARDBoard Project in its beginning stages, as well as now since the organization has grown.
What I do and offer is unique. I trust my inner guidance as well as the inner guidance of the person I’m working with. My curiosity and playfulness allows me to offer my clients different perspectives and ways to look at a situation. I’m most proud of healing my body and my relationships, as well as my choice and willingness to live authentically and on my terms. I’m excited about becoming a minister and teaching others to do the same.
I’ve always been intuitive since I was a child. Paying attention to my life experiences helped me to hone it and learn to listen to that inner guidance. As a result, I realized I was using it in all of my professions as a teacher, tutor, nanny and now coach. Using it intentionally took some work and years of practice. I overcame the challenges by surrounding myself with coaches and people to support me and see my highest good even when I couldn’t.
The lessons were too many to count. The most important thing I learned is I’m a powerful creator (we all are) and to trust myself and life. I want people to know that we live in a kind, loving and supportive Universe. When we live from this knowing, life reflects this truth to us. My brand is being in awe of life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Dallas is an exciting place. There are multiple beautiful lakes in the metroplex that have paths for running, bikes, skating or just hanging out. I love to go and commune with nature and watch the wildlife. Deep Ellum is fun to hang out with friends, especially when there’s an art fair. The State Fair is amazing. The Dallas Art Museum, The Improv in Addison, The Magic Time Machine, Medieval Times, and the Reunion Tower are places everyone needs to try at least once. The Verizon Theatre and American Airlines are great for concerts. And you have to try Ali Baba Mediterranean Grill, Lockhart Smokehouse, Pecan Lodge or Terry Black’s BBQ. You’ll thank me later.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to CSLDallas and my mentor Tracy Brown. CSLDallas has been a playground for me to create a life I love. Tracy Brown has personally coached me through life transitions and releasing what no longer served me. I’m grateful for my spiritual tribe.
